Mind, Body, Spirit How is it that we let our minds be controlled so easily? Today the only way to keep a tab on what your putting in your mind is to constantly be aware of what you are looking at. Everywhere you look today is an advertisement pining for your attention, it's sickening if you actually stop to think about it. How often do you stop to think about it? You are what you think about! just like "You are what you eat" except this is worse because you have to pick up that deep fried food and put it into your mouth in order for it to rot your guts out, but you really have to put in an effort to limit what gets into your mind. Religion and advertising and propaganda are such brilliant tools of power. Irony It is a week past new years eve and I've decided to abstain until Cuba. Abstinance doesn't stop me from brewing my own apple cider and starting a new batch of beer. Is this guaranteed failure? I find that everyone I love has a drinking problem and yet I refuse to even consider that I myself might have one too. One week since cigars, one week since hash, one week since wine. Three days since the overwhelming desire for sexual pleasure was somehow subsided as soon as I began my nude calisthenics and stretching routine again. The human psychy is so confusing. The hypocrite A few years ago I would have been the first to tell you that religion is bad, nothing more then a control mechanism. As someone with very strong Buddhist beliefs I find it so much easier to pray then to meditate! Why must we choose? If Jesus Christ and Siddhartha Gautama ate a meal in the same room would they eat together? In a time when we are surrounded by depression and unhappiness, when so many avoid religion for fear of being controlled, doesn't it seem that a little faith and some guidelines for life might be a good idea? Morality. What happened to self respect? Honor. What happened to self discipline? Integrity. What happened to common sense? Deja Vu Brian J
