Crash in the night

A few weeks ago I was chatting around 1 am when I heard a loud crash outside. I looked out but didn't see anything unusual. A minute later I heard a vehicle take off heading down the road. Didn't feel like putting clothes on and figured that whoever ran into something was not hurt because they had exited the scene. Next morning went out to see what may have occurred. There was my mailbox snapped off and lying in pieces in the ditch. From the tire tracks it was probably a good thing they hit the mail box because they were heading straight for the utility pole. The pole was totaled but the mailbox itself could probably be salvaged with some work. Decided to buy a new mailbox and put it up because the old one needed more work than first anticipated. I thought the remnants of the old mailbox would make a good bird feeder. Added a base and used PVC pipe for legs and created the first fly thru birder feeder in the neighborhood, perhaps the entire county or state. The next morning the backyard birds were enjoying my new creation. Couldn't figure out how to get the pics on here so put them on our page.
