Dad Was a Nudist!?

As a small child in the late 50s and early 60s there wasnt a nook or cranny in our house I hadnt explored. Cupboards and closets were not safe from my expeditions and werent a proper challenge to my climbing skills. There was a linen closet in the hallway of the second floor, where all three bedrooms and a shared bathroom was located. It was in that closet, on a high up shelf, under the metal filing box where I found a stash of two nudist magazines. The one photo Ill never forget was of two nude women frolicking through a field with airbrushed genitals. I also remember seeing references to the ASA in them. Once I mentioned them to my parents they disappeared from that location and were never to be found again. Discovering the magazines happened about the same time my dad stopped going to a local Vic Tanny gym. (He built his own in our basement.) At the time, mostly men frequented gyms. They emphasized the human body through body building, which to a small degree coincided with the nudism movement. I always suspected my dad got the magazines from the gym, under the counter. Nudist magazines were not to be found displayed at regular magazine stands back then. In the mornings my father and I would share the one upstairs bathroom and take showers together. Being naked together while getting ready for the day ahead was just the way it was, a practical solution to a time and space problem. His example also showed me being naked was just part of life, was natural and normal, and didnt have any connection to sex. He also began sleeping nude during this period. (It didnt occur to me to follow his lead until my 20s.) As an adult, whenever we visited each other we both slept nude. We would walk naked to and from the bathroom and I would usually leave my bedroom and visit with him in his until we decided to get the day into gear.
