Days out Abbey House Gardens UK

Well despite us both having been nudist at home, beaches and at spas, for some time, we have tended to keep ourselves to ourselves. Ink has attended a BN open swim which was clearly a recruitment drive for a local landed club so other than that no official Nudist events had been attended. However, with a stroke of lucky holiday planning, combined with a rare opportunity afforded by the variable English weather, we decided to take a longer trip than usual and visit Abbey House Gardens, owned and run by the "Naked Gardeners" somewhere on the edge of Wiltshire. We were a little apprehensive as the BN links to the website billed it as a clothing optional day, and we were concerned about the number of textiles that would be attending and motives etc of the other visitors in general. The gardens and semi ruined Abbey were truly beautiful. From the more formal Celtic Knot gardens, herb, and rose gardens, fish pools, fountains and walk ways. Through to the more natural gardens further down the slopes which ran through trees gardens and a waterfall section of the River Avon. A vast array of flowers and wild life to view in a stunning setting. I was impressed they had taken care to make sure wheel chair access was good, and with assistance accessible to all. The Carp in the pool were magnificent and a wonderful day out was had by all judging by the relaxed atmosphere, acceptance of all smiles and suntans in abundance. As for the other patrons... well the textiles seemed a little odd and out of place maybe making up about 10% of the visitors. Some were clearly with Naturists partners and quite comfortable with the nudity around them. Some despite the warnings on the gates, web site notification and the nice lady at the ticket office, were obviously a little unsettled and not sure quite where to look given the large number who had turned up and taken the no clothes option. Although, i am not sure one non English textile couple understood them and were trying to squeeze photo opportunities and shots in between the naked visitors. Any how. it was a great day out, a lovely first trip into a more official event , rather than skinny dips etc grabbed when we can, where we could be comfortable with those around us who clearly had no other intention other than to enjoy the spectacular gardens too. My only wishes are that instead of having a clothing optional day, once a month or so, the situation be reversed and be predominately naturist, and if only it was nearer to home. Well worth a visit
