Friends requests

Another day and another rant, albeit a micro-rant. Well here goes. This is something I was talking about with suzanne [I think] and it's about being sent friends requests from men you've never even spoken to. It's not something I can understand, because my profile is not only open, but it also has no photos. So just what are the benefits of being a 'friend'? it makes sense if you collect 'friends' or if you want to look good in front of others, because you are friends with certain people, but at the end of the day it really doesn't mean that much. So why send a request to someone you've never even spoken to?
