We have very exciting news! The Lilly Valley Membership Committee has completed the process of leasing the Lilly Valley property. Lilly Valley members now operate the club in its entirety. This will ensure that Lilly Valley is around for many more years for the enjoyment of nudists everywhere. We have an exciting summer planned. Friday Fish Frys, Pot Luck Suppers, Open House in June, to name a few events. Come and join us! For those of you who may not be familiar with the recent history of Lilly Valley, the following is a brief history leading up to this day. In the spring of 2008, a few of us were sitting around the campfire. We started talking about how best to keep Lilly Valley in existence. Jimmy, the proprietor was suffering from a debilitating medical condition and was unsure of how long he would be able to continue with Lilly Valley. That fall, we formed Friends of Lilly, a non-landed AANR club, to help promote Lilly Valley and to promote nude recreation in the Western New York and Southern Niagara region. We have been working hard for over a year now to ensure that this will happen. Last year, we entered into an agreement with the Lilly Valley property owners to ensure the continuation of Lilly Valley for the next ten years. The summer of 2011 was a transition year. Jimmy still leased the property but the membership ran most aspects of the club. As Jim's health deteriorated, so did conditions at the club. He was no longer able to do any maintenance. During the spring and early summer of 2011 Lilly Valley members started cleaning and renovating the property. There was an extensive amount of cleaning completed that was long overdue. Changes were made to increase the aesthetic and nude recreation appeal of Lilly Valley. We constructed new bathrooms that are larger, well lit and "user friendly". The clubroom, entrance, and shower area were cleaned, painted, and redecorated to improve their looks. We constructed a new handicap accessible bathroom in the old front office area. Unfortunately Jimmy lost his battle last November. He will be missed. Last Fall, after a great deal of work, Lilly Valley was granted landed club status by AANR. The indoor pool area is being refurbished. The ceiling and some of the walls are being replaced with better insulation and lighting. We are looking into a pool heating system. Our goal is to have the club open at least two weekends a month during the winter for swimming, water volleyball, hot tub and steam room use. It has been almost four years since our campfire discussion. We have come a long way but we still have much to do. This is your club. We still need help with renovations. We need members and visitors to ensure the continuation of Lilly Valley. Our proposed schedule of events for 2012 is up on our web site. www.lillyvalley.org If you have suggestions for events or any other item, please let us know.
