I recently noticed in the Forum a post by a fellow 'solo' male calling for a petition to be signed supporting the inclusion of solo males at all nudist venues and clubs in Australia (ie no more deliberate exclusion of solo males). The premise of this post is that in order to ensure greater female participation in said venue or club, that solo males are being either deliberately or indirectly excluded, and therefore a petition to ensure that this can't happen. This piqued my curiosity as I do see, whether we wish to admit it or not, that sometimes inclusion initiatives tend to exclude certain others. As an admin of a Group that has a deliberate approach to exclude solo males (until they can bring a couple or female to the Group) I felt an obligation to explain my approach and to what I believe is the answer to gain greater female participation in the nude community and at venues and clubs. So I decided to comment to this post in the Forum pages; the answer is not gaining an inclusion rite for solo males, rather the answer is to create affirmative actions and ways to gain greater participation by females. The rules for joining the Group that I am the admin to doesn't totally exclude solo males - after all I am one myself. What it does do is allow solo males to participate but not unless they are actively involved in growing a gender balanced community. So far there are 29 members in the Group I admin, and its relatively gender balanced. There are more than 50 solo males waiting for membership approval, and so far other than myself only one other solo male has been able to introduce a couple or a female to the Group. Its a call to action fellas - you can't simply be a passenger and then ask for a rite to join. Keen to hear what others believe is the answer to getting greater female participation and reducing overwhelming male dominance in nude community groups, activities, clubs and at venues.
