Yesterday I managed to 'tick' something off my bucket list - a nudie walk in local bushland! I had for some months been checking and researching this walk, as public nudity is illegal here and being male seems to up the ante when it comes to the law and community. So that I knew the path, views and patronage well I had been on the track many times clothed and through different weather. Had checked it out for cameras too, as its government owned property and is at risk of bushfire and has wild dog controls. Yesterday the weather was bleak. Rain off and on, overcast and the occasional whip up of wind. But on my return from a work journey I stopped by. Earlier that morning I had made the decision to go commando and make it easier to strip down should I decide that today is the day to be naked in the bush! My planning paid off and I was able to walk a long way in nude wearing only my shoes, as we have some terrible things that bite here in Australia and the last thing you need is be bitten by a venomous snake while nude hiking and having to immobilise and be rescued... The rain actually added to the experience. It not only helped ensure other bushwalkers were not out and about but it felt great falling on my naked body. All my senses were working overtime trying to detect the possibility of somebody else on the tracks. I think this heightened my sense of smell and the bush smelt Devine in the rain - Eucalypt, earth and scrub all wet and providing their own aroma. My hearing peaked I could hear so many birds despite the rain. What an experience! Although I had made my way up from my car parked at the roadside clothed, on the return journey I decided to walk all the way to my car naked. That was easily achieved with very little traffic passing due to the rain. A nudie drive home was a nice way to cap off the walk. So now I wait and see if there is any fall out. Did anybody see me and then grab my licence plate number? Have I been reported and were there cameras that I just couldn't see on my early recon walks? One thing is for certain, next week is looking good for another bushwalk if there isn't!
