Do you have an underlying philosophy to your nudism? I do, but I also enjoy exploring the breadth of other people's philosophies too. We all have an easy response to the question "why be naked" - why be clothed when being nude is freeing, exhilarating and simply fun in the first place. I often wonder who wrote the rule that we must be clothed in the first place, where did the laws regarding nudity start? The answer may even be that it enabled elitists to be such. I'll research this one day to know who started the fire! Interestingly, history is littered with stories of public nudity such as Lady Godiva and here in Australia we had convicts that worked naked after selling their clothing for rum and soldiers who swan nude in the Aegean Sea to distract themselves from the ravages of war. These events all seemed fine and socially acceptable and I question whether it was so due to differing philosophy of those times. In the modern context, and in this prudish time, there is no doubt that if all people were to be nude then there would be a significant reduction in environmental impact. From the manufacture of synthetics and related dyes to the overall appalling contribution that fashion makes to landfill from unsold clothing alone. We could also argue that with all of mankind being nude then there would be a significant reduction in some mental health issues. With no clothes to hide beneath we simply have to accept the full range of body type and the ageing process. With no clothes on all we are all on the same team! But I have no doubt that many nudies also find that being nude is transformative of their own mind. It makes you feel free albeit your social conditioning tells you that you are at your most vulnerable when naked - be that sexually or criticism. Being nude gives you the control though, you've broken the rules, the norms that many live by. Some nudies enjoy skin sensation. How free is it to feel sun, rain, snow, wind, surfaces and others on your skin - all of it, not just those socially acceptable parts of our bodies? Is this truly the essence of being a nudie? Does it take us back to something that we all crave, something that is primitive and basic, even simple? Or is being a nudie simply about acceptance - the wonderful feeling of having all of you accepted unconditionally? Love to hear your ideologies and philosophies!
