Poem: Lack of Love

Lack of Love Your sweet nectar has turned to poison upon my lips. I don’t want to think about your kisses anymore. Can you see a pain in my eyes, deeper than my pupils seem? The pain of you leaving, it wasn’t worth the human attentions we so enjoyed. You pushed, and you pulled, and you left me in pieces, when only you held the glue. Now, I must walk alone, shattered, to find some relief, some way to become somewhat whole once again. My chest heaves in the heavy weight of finished waiting. A torrent of terrible tears take my cheeks in their terrifying travels. Thoughts that once thrilled now only kill. Kill my openness, my hope, my chance at love, my knowledge of kindness by men. Kill that which is already dead, good. There is no blood supply that is not from my own arteries. There is no back-up for a heart crushed in man’s hands. Only a patching up of a pulverized palpitating piece.
