I wrote this in response to a post by a Friend who was sharing his thoughts of his first experience with a group of other nudists. RE: Tell us your journey from textiles to nudism. I can relate to your first time with a group. For all the time I spent alone or with a girlfriend on deserted beaches etc, it was great and totally relaxing. Or so I thought. But I didn't realize at the time that I was being so vigilant about watching for someone walking up the beach or going by in a boat or low flying plane or whatever. Even when I was lying on the sand watching clouds, I might close my eyes for a minute but I would never allow myself to doze off for a nap. Then, one day, 20-25 years ago, I stumbled across Blacks Beach with several thousand naked people. It was like an epiphany. Every ounce of concern about being seen naked by someone else vanished, and that's when I finally found out what total relaxation was about. Ended up spending the rest of my vacation on that beach lol! I still go nude alone or with someone else whenever I can, because well populated nude beaches and resorts aren't available nearby. But I still can't believe that it took me so long to figure out the safety in numbers thing because I'd been a practicing nudist at that point for quite awhile. Then it was later that I was intro'd to resorts and organized nudism by a girlfriend, and I became interested in joining nudist organizations that promote and support nudism. So it has been a lifelong progression for me with a few milestones along the way.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This from my Kayak & Canoe group RE: A good deal!! Okay, this is just an update and abbreviated review of my boat incase someone else may be looking at buying one. It's a Perception Expression 15'. I have just a small amount of paddling time with it now so my mind may still change. But so far I'm loving this boat. I ordered it sight unseen thru West Marine with the understanding that if I didn't like it when I saw it, I could walkaway without paying for it. Shipping was free to my local West Marine store.I'm about 5'10" and about 170 lbs naked. If I were any less, I think I might prefer the 14.5' model. But this 15' fits me fine and would easily fit anyone 6" taller and 50lbs heavier. The boat has a drop down skeg that makes a nice and noticeable difference in crosswind tracking. Also helps tracking, wind or not, on flat water with no perceptible difference in drag, and it's easily retracted for turns and maneuverability. I've taken waves over the deck and the hatches are water tight. They fit like Tupperware lids. It weighs 57 lbs so is a few lbs less than my OT Penobscot 16' canoe and is fairly easy to carry for a short distance. I wouldn't want to portage more than a 1/4 mile or so though, with either boat. My only dislike is with the back of the seat. Granted, it's extremely comfortable, but it's way the hell too high. I don't know how one is expected to use a spray skirt with it sticking up like that. I've removed mine and plan to replace it with a simple back band. But that's about the only necessary modification I'll need to do on this boat. Anything more will be just convenience type additions.If anyone else is shopping for one of these, let me know and I'll try to answer questions if I can. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ This in response to someone saying they think the majority of single male members of TN are either gay or bi. RE: Bi, and straight (or gay) I've wondered about this too and I don't see how it could be the majority. But if it is, that would put me solidly in the minority. I'm no homophobe by any measure, and I have a number of bi or gay friends and neighbors. But I'm sho nuff straight and not leaning in the least. Even guys as expertas Freud are dead wrong now and then. I realize bi and gay guys are a lot more visible these days but, I think if we had access to the data here, straight guys would still be in the majority...... been wrong before tho.
