Research recently reveals men who ejaculate 21 times a month are at significantly lower risk of developing prostate cancer. This adds to the speculation that purging the prostate gland rids the reproductive tract of toxins and free radicals which contribute to long term cancer states. Interestingly, the methods of ejaculating were not limited to sexual intercourse; masturbation and other forms of stimulation resulting in ejaculation were prostate protective. As with females having reduced risk of breast cancer who have breast fed, glandular evacuation has cancer reduction benefits. Additional research demonstrates aging males are able to maintain their penile length and girth with frequent penile manipulation. Both studies reference sexual taboos and outdated social norms as contributing to the rise in prostate CA. Currently, several research institutions are evaluating nutritional and infectious disease states that contribute to higher risk of reproductive cancers, including cancers of higher risk. Authors recommend candid conversations with youth approaching puberty about the benefits of masturbation and ejaculation. Although not mentioned, determining the appropriate place and time to meet this basic human need would also helpful to avoid social-legal challenges.
