"FRIENDS" I can do without!

People who send friend requests after chatting for a while or sometimes not! They show interest, but ultimately have no intention of taking things further. Weather that is keeping in contact, or actually meeting! My intention, if I chat to someone is that I am interested in them, and would like to meet. I do state this on my profile but all to no avail. Do these people with loads of friends actually keep in contact with any or most of them? After a good clear out, I now have three friends and I am only really sure that one actually exists because I have meet him several times and keep in touch. I suppose my point is, what is this bullshit all about????
