Still living healthier.

September 25, 2016 Well, it has been over a year since I began trying to live a healthier life. I've discovered that both coffee and alcohol were "gateway" drinks to consuming more calories. Namely, I'd eat more pretzels, cheese, etc... with alcohol and more pastries with coffee. So I greatly reduced my intake of both. Now, I just have 1 cup of java a day and for the most part have eliminated alcohol except for the occasional glass of wine. Just by understanding myself and my habits, just making these 2 changes lead to other changes in my eating style and the 10 lbs that I had gained have now been lost again. In addition I've lost another 5 lbs. Unexpectedly, when I lost the weight I no longer needed to take a daily medication for gastric reflux. So now, I'm free of all my chronic medications. My other medication was for exercise-induced asthma. But, now that I'm older I find I'm not able to exercise as much or as vigorously as before. And while I do miss some of the foods that went with drinking, I'm happier being healthier. Onward! Dave
