The winter solstice has been and passed, and again for another year I have watched in envy as the naked bodies gathered in Tasmania and enter the Derwent River as part of Dark Mofo: https://darkmofo.net.au/ My envy arises not only from the fact that I still haven't got my backside down there for this, but they, the Tasmanians, do this swim so well. And here we are in Queensland "The Sunshine State" experiencing 22c day temps and we are further away than ever of having a similar event. I think it would be amazing to have such an event and raise funds for much needing charities. But its more than this, its the fact that everyday folks partake, the event has support of community, authority and government. Above all its a safe event, and that means so much. I can only imagine what it would be like for us here in Queensland to have a nude swim event that would coincide with Bris-better or the Brisbane Festival (as a Spring swim), and to safely swim at say Bribie Island's ocean beach with event security keeping the weirdos away and life savers at the ready should anybody get into trouble in the water... How do we make this happen for us?
