Why do we have to assume the worst?

I attempted to join a group here that has a special interest in nude photography and graphic design. I heard nothing for months. I then questioned the group founder why there was a delay. I was then informed that my profile did not have sufficient information showing my interests to support my membership (only I was told in a very condescending way - and basically called a looker not a person of real interest). I immediately updated my profile to show my genuine interest in these subjects (I have an Art degree in Graphic Design and that included an extensive film-based photographic training - enough to minor in it. My reason for joining stemmed from questions on how to adapt my film training to digital more successfully now that digital has really improved). Since my profile does not have a nude photo available to non-true nudist friends, I offered the founder of this group the option to either become a friend or I would send my nude photographs via email as proof of my interest. The founder then BRIEFLY became a friend to view my nude photographs and verified I had the sufficient interest to join. I do not make my nude pictures public for work reasons. I was advised I could reapply to join the group and I would be approved. I was then chastised for not having a more public nude picture that would have been easily accessible for the founder to see. That is very interesting since the founder's entire profile is restricted. What a hypocrite! I think it is sad that people automatically assume the worst in others and treat you like a scammer or child. A few simple questions could have determined my veracity instead of treating me like less than worthy to be considered. Needless to say, I am not joining and will take my interest and questions elsewhere. Luckily, there is another group just devoted to ALL types of photography that I have joined. Has anyone else experienced similar treatment when attempting to join a group in which you have interest?
