Lets here about some peoples first time to be nude with other nudists. At the beach, a resort or just at the house cooking out. Maybe some stories about other peoples first encounters will help some who are new to this. Maybe bring back memories for those who have been at it for a while. I have not beento a resort yet but have been to a local swimming hole and a few places in Ark. I remember the excitement, the fear and the fun. "What will everyone think? what will they say?" Heck, no one even paid attention cause they were all naked too. Its the same as any other get together but without clothes. I was scared, kind of excited like I was doing something I wasnt supposed to. But when everyone else just stripped down and jumped in it was no big deal. Just everyone having a good time.

Curt, or CowboyNov 17, 2009My local resort also doesn't have any openings in their quota for single male members.
No problem. I phone ahead, and go as a "guest" or "visitor."
It's kinda surprising how many members now mistake me for being a member when I'm not !ReactReply - MI
Miss_LindaNov 19, 2009I went skinny dipping with friends a little over 25 years ago. We found a path through the woods to a local lake. As long as we watched out for boaters, it was a nice secluded spot. I'm pretty sure one of the guys stripped down first but the rest of us soon followed. It was comfortable and fun.
We went back there time and again for many years until greedy developers bulldozed the trees and built a bunch of big ugly townhouses.

ocmickNov 19, 2009I had emailed ahead to the Rock for my first visit. On arrival, I was asked to park and come back for registration and the tour. I got out of the car, threw my shorts and shirt in the backseat and walked back to the gatehouse to register with just my wallet in hand. One look from D and she laughed saying "Boy, You couldn't wait to get here could you?" One of those days you just don't forget.ReactReply - MA
macnudeNov 19, 2009
Great idea for a topic. Was in Panama, at a resort with my then girlfriend (now wife). Literally stumbled upon a fairly sheltered but well-signed nude beach a few hundred yards from the resort, down a weathered path. Had always wanted to try, but had never really had the opportunity. Went through the trees and just went for it. Was so exhilarated that I convinced my girlfriend to join me the next day. After a little trepidation, she joined me and well, we never returned to the textile beach to the end of the holiday. Met and introduced ourselves to a number of other couples, with whom we hung with and, in fact, with whom we became friends back home (we all lived within a 100 mi or so, and hung out there as well for a few years. Other than meeting my wife and having kids, it is the best thing I have ever done. Thanks for the opporunity to tell the story. Anyone else?
I've got stories that wouldcurl your hair.LOL. Not first time nude but similar. Got as far as Costa Rica a few years ago. Drove 30 plus miles to the supposedly nude beach. My wife did not go with me. I encountered just two topless gals on the almost deserted beach. Not wanting to offend anyone, I kept my swim suit on the entire time. Encountered more nudity in the disco back at the resort. ha, ha Would like to here more about nudism in Panama.ReactReply - MI

George_in_WVNov 22, 2009The first time I went nude in a public setting in mixed company was when I went to a nudist resort because I wanted to go skinny-dipping like I used to at the YMCA before it went co-ed and required bathing suits. It was at the resort that I learned how comfortable it was to be nude and feel the fresh air and sunshine all over my body. I liked it so much that I joined the club as soon as I could and made as many visits as I could. I also joined a lot of other nudist organizations and attended a lot of their events. I have even been on and enjoyed nude cruises. I now hate wearing clothing and now that I live in a clothing optional community the only times I am dressed is when it is too cold to go around nude or when I am going to town for my shopping.

Like many Texans, I had my first nudist experience at Hippie Hollow, the only legally nude public beach in Texas. When I first undressed, I felt very uncomfortable. I was sure someone would see me and call the police. After walking around for awhile and seeing that other people were nude and that no one even noticed my nudity, I felt much more comfortable and free. When I saw park rangers walking around and not bothering the naked people, I felt much more confident. The feeling of walking around outside and swimming in the lake completely unencumbered by clothing was exhilarating.
I visited a couple of other venues in the area where nudity was informally established, and I felt so blessed to be able to enjoy nature completely naked and in the company of like-minded people, all without worrying about shocking somebody or getting arrested. I wich nudity were legal and accepted in all natural places open to the public.

Miss_LindaNov 30, 2009
I'm glad that I've gotten my wife to go fully nude at Hippie Hollow, just working on her to not be so worried about the day laborers who just go and gawk... wish they would be asked to leave as they aren't there for the experience, but to just gawk at the women. I almost wish Hippie Hollow required clothes free to make sure of those experiences not happening...
I don't understand the need they feel to gawk but maybe, after they do it a few times, it may get into their heads that nudity is not a big deal in and of itself.ReactReply - GA
gabareNov 30, 2009who can forget their first days of junior high school and pe class, i still remember the speech from the coach , you will have a white t-shirt gym shorts, socks and tennis shoes, at the end of class you will shower no if and or butts or was that buts. i remember dressing out that first day just getting the locker open was over whelming but coming in and getting nude and showering with 30 others boys that were also nude was a experience for a 12 year old boy. but after a few days it was just the norm for going to schoool back than. i don't think kids even shower after pe these days, actually i think when my kids went to pe they wore their gym shorts under their pants. no wonder kid have all these hang ups now days.

showus2Nov 30, 2009We started the same as most, skinnydipping, and eventually found a nudist resort nearby and have never looked back. While we lived in WA we had six acres on a river and were naked all day with our grandkids for the few months in the summer that you can be nude. We loved to go to Sauvie Island nude beach when we could but you had the same problem there with the day laborers. The stretch of beach on the Columbia River is half nude and half clothed, all get along just fine. The day workers are hispanic farm workers in the area and they have no interest in getting nude just like to stare at the naked women and kids. There are usually 4 or more in a group and they just drink beer and talk in spanish as they watch, we have never seen any confrontations with them.

Nowdays, kids don't shower in school for the most part. My son said it was because there wasn't time before having to go to next class. After he joined the army, he got used to showering with others. He still isn't a nudist, but is more receptive to the idea.ReactReply - TH

Most people just ignore them, possibly due to the safty in numbers mindset. There are often a couple of hundred nudists out there on a nice weekend.ReactReply - JA
JackNeilsonJan 28, 2010Like most people I knew nudists existed but had no interest in joining them as I was growing up. In the early 60s I was posted to Europe and on vacation decided to visit some World War II locations with my wife and three children then 7, 6 and 4. In August 1944 the First Special Service Force, The Devil's Brigade, a Canadian/American Force and forerunner of both Canadian and American Special Forces invaded the island of Isle Du Levant off the southern coast of France so it was natural to visit there. We caught an early morning boat for the trip to the island to give us lots of time to explore and when we arrived ... horror of horrors ... everyone was nude. We had the choice of waiting half an hour for the trip back to the mainland or joining in so after a quick discussion we doffed our clothes and began to explore the island. The feeling of being nude was great as everyone knows and the novelty of seeing other nude bodies wore off after about five minutes. My wife felt hesitant about being nude in front of the kids at first but that quickly wore off also and the kids were having a wonderful time. We spent the day exploring and just relaxing. We stayed overnight on the island and the next day was also one of great relaxation. We caught the last boat back to the mainland that evening and we looked back on it as the highlight of our vacation.

Pasha71Oct 16, 2010My first time happened not that long ago. In fact, it was on August 31 this year.
Until this past summer, I hadn't visited my native Europe for 16 years. Well, this year I finally decided to make up for it, and went on a megatrip to Russia, Ukraine and Latvia. Had a great time, met a lot of online friends, as well as old college ones... but I digress.
Well, when I came to Latvia, I decided to visit a nude beach in Vecaki. More than anything, I was just curious, since I'd never been to a nude beach before.
I did talk my brother (who went on a trip with me) into going to the beach, and we did find it quite easily. There were indeed nudists. And I quickly noticed that I was feeling... indecent. I was feeling indecent, because I was clothed! Just like I'd feel indecent being nude on a textile beach (or on a city street, for that matter). On a nude beach, though, it was the other way around -- nudity seemed to be the only decent state to be in. When in Rome...
Well, I wanted to be decent. And then, to the utter shock of my brother, I quickly shed both my clothes and my inhibitions. It was suprisingly easy! And then I realized that all the stuff I had read about nudism was actually true. I felt liberated, peaceful and not lewd at all.
That's how my new wonderful hobby was started. Once you go nude, you'll never go prude. :-)ReactReply - CD
Cheri Donna DawsonOct 16, 2010I thought I had posted to this but didn't find anything from me. Here's my first time:
I was vacationing at Club Med/Martinique, a resort in the Caribbean. The first two days were spent on the beach sitting in a soggy swimsuit and being chafed by sand. I signed up for a day boat trip and picnic at a beach on an island away from the resort. As we were leaving, I discovered that the excursion was to an island with a nude beach! I decided to go anyway, thinking no way was anybody getting me out of my suit. I stood firm, and in fact, was the last person to give in and shed my swimsuit - I was the last one to get dressed to return to the resort. Why hadn't someone told me about this sooner? I was hooked, and that was over 40 years ago. The phrase, "nude when possible, clothed when practical," definitely describes me. I do wear at least shoes when vacuuming the house though as I have a habit of running over my toes with the vacuum cleaner.

srithanonchaiOct 25, 2010I wrote of my initial experience in one of the groups here, but here it is again.
I had moved to Japan for business purposes, and frankly speaking, I was somewhat uptight at the time. I was at a factory with two Japanese business associates, and we missed the last train back to Tokyo. They suggested that we go to spend the night at a Japanese Onsen, which is a hot springs resort. So off we went driving around Northern Japan, looking for one, where I could have a private room with a Western style bathroom. After a great deal of fruitless searching, we finally came to one that had what I requested.
We went to our separate rooms, removed our clothing and put on a yukata, which is a thin kimona like garment. Then off we went to the men's changing room, where we removed our yukata, and were given a tenughi, which is a thick wash cloth, about six inches square, and this is the be used for washing, drying and modesty purposes.
We then went to the bath, with me leading the way, my tenughi over my shoulder. I walked in, and I immediately bumped into someone, who I immediately noticed was a Japanese female, who was attired the same way as myself. Naturally, being uptight, I was shocked, and turned around to see my Japanese associates laughing. After some moments thinking about the situation, I decided, why not. The bathing area was filled with about 40 Japanese men, women and children, and in a way, they were more shocked at this foreign intruder than I was. By the way, these mixed bathing onsen are called "konyoku buro" in Japanese.
To make a long story short, I thoroughly enjoyed this experienced, and this started me out as a nudist. I lost my only bathing suit over 20 years ago, and I decided to never replace it...ReactReply - KR
