I remember a time many years ago, when out with one of my drinking buddies and a new barmaid had just started working at my local.
I said to my friend, " Wow' she's a stunner, I bet you would love to have breakfast with her. "
Giving me a nasty look, he then replied. " I do often, she's my wife. "
I had kown him for quite some time but never met his wife until that night.  We didn't fall out over it, he ended up being best man at my wedding, the following year.

    This happen to me last week!  I was working on some plumbing at a hair salon and one of the sylists walked by me and the owner (male) and I said "Wow, she is gorgeous!" Said nothing more but the look on his face was the look of a jealous husband!  The only thing is he is married and this girl is NOT his wife!  I just basically shut up after that because my gut seemed to think there is something going on that I really don't want to know about.  Either way the look on his face was pretty funny.
