Can it be possible, that a whole thread gets hijacked?

I have had the experience, that a whole thread in a group has totally disappeared over the weekend, which has been most actively attended to. It's not funny and I look at it as a very disrespectful act.

There are two main reasons for the disappearance of a thread -

It was unsuitable for this site, or   -

The OP of it is no longer a member.
A whole thread can disappear with 1 touch of the " X " button. The Original Poster of the thread  has been given that option. I recently deleted a wholeangrythread.  It was the "Gay Marriage around the World Update".  From the very start it was met with hostility from a couple members. As the thread progressed, it got so negative, that many other members were asking that the hostiltiy and negativity stop.  It didn't. A few members  had a back and forth attack on each other, all parties claiming victory for something they have no control over.  As if any National or International Issue can be fixed on a Nudist Forum!! Some have called the act, censorship. It wasn't. It was an act of trying to clean up True Nudists from the negativity and hate that some project on here.  A sort of, Step back and breathe moment. It didn't work that way though. The attackers just started attacking on another thread. As the OP ofthisthread, You have the Delete Button for the whole thread!!

Surely if you start a group or a thread it is up to you to police that group or thread? If name calling ensues then delete that offensive part, do not delete the many reasonable posts that were added.

It's far too easy to create a group or start a thread and then just let it stagnate or colape into name calling.

Time reasonable people took 'ownership' around here so we can enjoy reasonable discussion.
At present, it is only possible to delete the whole thread. Deleting only selected replies would definitely be viewed as censorship.  I agree with more policing though, too many threads land in the gutter, with only negative and hateful content.

I know it was slander and it was unacceptable behavior as it went on.
The thread I took part in was in a group.Groups are usually not very active with posting, but knowing now, that the OP would have done it, does make sense to me. He will be respected accordingly.
