When I am nude I often get hard, especially looking at women. Are other nudists offended,do they have the same problem, should I just stand there with a hard on?

EarlDFeb 16, 2020
I believe that homeclothesfree is the only one I am disagreeing with at this time.Everyone else is agreeing to discretion.Homeclothesfree;I will not subject my sons to your perverted idea that there is something wrong with their bodies and being healthy.
And that is your right as it is the right of everyone else to not be subjected to your perverted view that erections are the some total of a boys or mans body. Do your thing and live your life but don't force everyone around you have to deal with your "incidental" erections.
That is one of the most significant factor that creates problem for the acceptance of nudism in mainstream society. People expect us to walking around with erections and engaging in public sexual acts.
BTW your isolation game good try but fail. You drop in this site with one single photo with your head cut of and your only reference for any kind of social nudity is a spa where YOU say people walk around with erections. You call me perverted because I dont equate a man or boys body to his erection. I know that I can have a positive body image and sexual perspective with sharing my erections in public spaces where others who aren't omterestedeted in seeing it would be subject to a distorted view that says my body acceptance is connected to my penis There is no real life naturism venue where that is acceptable. Every gut who is a genuine naturist or nudist knows you cover up should you get an erection. But unless you are actually trying to be sexual even "incidental" erections are few and far between if they ever happen at all. So do your thing in your little bubble of your own creation.ReactReply - BE

JonathanApr 7, 2020I think context is important, and as threads like this prove, there will never be a consensus on what exactly is right/wrong/acceptable/etc. I think if we're talking about genuine nudists, especially younger men, then there probably will be times when their body reacts to the rush of fresh air when they strip, or catching sight of an attractive [subjective, of course] woman. It's how they deal with it that is important. Walking around showing it off isn't really on, but at the same time I can't really say I'd be offended if I saw a guy going about his business at a resort who just happened to be erect. It happens, life goes on, its not the end of the world. On the other hand, I would find it grossly inappropriate if he were doing it (or prolonging it) deliberately for attention or sexual thrills, for example. It's easy to theorise and generalise from behind a keyboard, but sometimes situations arise and we just have to deal with them as best we can - both from the guy's point of view and those around him. Sometimes I think we like to create drama where really there doesn't need to be any. (Before anyone says it, obviously, if there is behaviour which is completely inappropriate, then of course it needs dealing with. Otherwise, we're all grown ups, there are bigger problems in the world than whether a new young male nudist accidentally gets erect...)ReactReply - MI

It is only natural and most people will understand that it is out of your control. They may even appreciate that you like what you see, and respond with their own non verbal communication. No need to be embarrassed, if it bothers you; turn away.

VidalFeb 8, 2026Having an erection is natural. I either have an erection or semi and I am usually nude all day. You havevto repsect people and most people don't understand that erections might happen without thought or sexual influences. Every night, when I am asleep, I am very erect. And every day, after I wake up, it wont go dowb for awhile. So even at my camp, i have challanges. The worse one was I was hiking and ended up around the home area. I only had sneakers and no towel. I was walking up a steep street and I got fully erect. I was to get soft and midway, a car passed amd she smiled and waved. I looked down and it was still alittle more than semi. But I usually sit down when i get one or the hot tub. Butbi think people could see it in there too but no one said anything.

BillFeb 10, 2026No self-respecting nudist would ever be caught without a towel at resort, ever. Someone who hasn't learned to control erections should absolutely not be hiking around inside a nudist resort without a towel. That's breaking a hard, fast, cardinal rule in the community. Speaking of hard and fast, take a hint, one that any male new to social bareness tends to figure out quickly - it is easy to lower the hard mast fast before arriving in the public areas. Do us all a favor. We don't need to see it, and we've seen better. Saying it is natural is a cop out. Tween boys who sprout up in public might get a pass until their parents deal with the situation; an adult who shows the bone will be told to turn onto their stomach or shown the exit gate. Sure, it's naturally going to occur sometimes, so have some respect and take care ofthatbusiness before entering any social situation. Do it twice or thrice if needed, and congratulations. Wholesome, family nudists don't need guys around who feel they have some God-given right to let their hard-on persist. An attitude of tolerance in our natural community does not include a stiff dick in front of our children, thanks anyway.ReactReply - SH

So is menstruation, but you don't see nudist women walking around letting it leak out of their body for all to see. For the guys fighting so hard to normalize boners in public nudist spaces, go to an adults only resort where that isn't an issue. But definitely don't think that you strutting around the pool with your little pecker bouncing is impressing anyone, and it most certainly isn't wanted at a family nudist resort or venue. You guys act like its a personal attack upon you that the majority of people around don't want to see you hard. An erection by default is an outward sign of sexual arousal. Be that purposeful or accidental, either you're thinking about something to cause it or your body is reacting to hormone surges to make it happen. Either way people see it as a sexual thing, which is exactly why you shouldn't be sporting it about like its the Stanley Cup, its a participation trophy at best. So roll over on your belly, lay your towel over your lap, slip into the pool or hot tub, or excuse yourself to the bathroom, your tent, your cabin or room, or wherever you need to go to deal with it.ReactReply - FA
FabienneFeb 10, 2026Wow, the erection discussion is back! We really had a long break ;-)
"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens" . And i would add "there's a setting for everything too".
I guess it's not about the fact man may get aroused and their insemination tool getting hard. That's basic biology. It's about where an when, in which situation you let it happen and how you handle it with respect and thoughtfulness, and in an adequate manner considering setting, situation and the feelings and values of everyone around.
I both was in situations when i yelled at someone to leave instead of parading around on the family beach with a hard rod, but also when i felt it quite inspiring to have a lad with me who is open to show how he feels. You have to get some horse sense about what is adequate in which setting i guess, and which acting complies with the people around (eg. towel covering or stroke it?).
Anyway, my usual advice to deescalate is "think of your income tax declaration" - works better than cold water ;-)

ClaudioFeb 11, 2026Haha loved the suggestion at the end!
But really, very well put. All about context and behaviour. In a busy, public place, be discreet and wait it out, in other settings it can really depend. I've had nudist meet ups with others and especially upon first stripping, men can have a reaction for whatever reason, but nobody ever behaved in a creepy way. Ultimately, that level of honesty/openness/whatever you want to call it is part of naturism.
Conversely, I've seen more than one guy being perfectly flaccid but acting creepy, so that goes to show - have respect, common sense and read the room!

I need to carry a towel with me when going for a walk at a nudist resort because I might inadvertently get an erection? I might bring a towel with me if I think I'm going to sit down somewhere but, otherwise, there's no need. That's part of the fun of going to a nudist club. Saying that it is natural for a man to get an erection is NOT a cop out. WildWilly says that we are to take care of that business before entering any social situation? That is silly as well. Of course, I agree with his comment concerning children.ReactReply

PaulFeb 25, 2026An adult exposing a minor to an erection is illegal in many states. It is a criminal offense. Usually a complaint must be filed for the case to progress. However, if police observe it, they are usually bound to report it. Sometimes they lay in wait. Sometimes they just ignore it.
Any family friendly nudist resort must prevent that from happening to avoid being closed by authorities. Quickly dealing with an exposure is necessary. Avoiding community backlash for an adult only resort is the best policy as well. Closed beaches and businesses due to community push back are not rare.
Hiding an erection is a way to prevent complaints and subsequent prosecution. Hiding it seems like a good plan. Hide it any way you can. Do the best you can to focus your attention on other activities.
Personally I am not offended by exposed erections or protruding nipples. They are natural behaviors. On the other hand, I don't want naturist places closed.

BillFeb 26, 2026Having a towel is much more than just a way to speedily underexpose your decidedly rude (in certain contexts), forwardly-aimed projection of maleness. By never having a way to know when this wayward, uncontrollable, mind-of-its-own protuberant piece of your body might decide to become stiff, and as such, suitable for poking the next available bodily entrance you may witness (and you then deem the breach in view worthy of your otherwise awkward meat popsicle), it is not good to venture into the bare areas of our earth without a way to camouflage your haphazardly, blood-engorged state from eyes which may find offense at its poorly-timed turgidity; that's even if you decide it would be educationally-helpful to any of the local children. For those less-read of us, I direct you to a quote via Wikipedia from Douglas Adams, brainchild of a thing called "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as to the overall, undeniable reasons behind ALWAYS having a towel ready at hand, this besides the obvious reason of where you're going to need to sityourbare behind, and at times when you least expect it. These pertain to any traveller, regardless whether they need to leave the planet at the drop of a hat or not, and whether or not they are nude. The Guide states: "A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. Partly it has great practical value. You can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakrafoon; use it to sail a miniraft down the slow heavy River Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand-combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (such a mind-bogglingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can't see it, it can't see you daft as a brush, but very very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough. More importantly, a towel has immense psychological value. For some reason, if a strag (strag: non-hitch hiker) discovers that a hitchhiker has his towel with him, he will automatically assume that he is also in possession of a toothbrush, face flannel, soap, tin of biscuits, flask, compass, map, ball of string, gnat spray, wet weather gear, space suit etc., etc. Furthermore, the strag will then happily lend the hitch hiker any of these or a dozen other items that the hitch hiker might accidentally have "lost." What the strag will think is that any man who can hitch the length and breadth of the galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through, and still knows where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with. Hence a phrase that has passed into hitchhiking slang, as in "Hey, you sass that hoopy Ford Prefect? There's a frood who really knows where his towel is." (Sass: know, be aware of, meet, have sex with; hoopy: really together guy; frood: really amazingly together guy.)" So be a frood and bring a towel, especially if it's May 25th!ReactReply - DA

Honestly when you think about it. The erection is only seen this way as in the US it has an overt sexual meaning. Whereas other places like Europe just see it as a bodily function, no need to really cover up unless you notice you ARE making others uncomfortable just leave it and it will go away. They just ignore it the way you are supposed to with naked bodies. This is around their family and all. (the usual explanation as to why the rules are so strict). What is funny, is that in the US, nudity is overtly sexual, so being a nudist is weird and creepy. In the us, naturists and nudists are the only people that dont sexualize nudity. Or so they say. As long as you arent showing off or touching or staring at anyone, (even if walking) I do not see a problem. You dont get them as much as you get older thats true. Its called erectile dysfunction. It is a normal physiological response than can be caused by literally almost ANYTHING. Gust of wind, nerves, stress, hormones, physical activity (blood pressure changes), eating food, needing to pee or poo. There are sooo many reasons to have a erection that is completely non sexual. Its sad that only scientists and Europeans believe this. Even if you cover up and are respectful of others, if it continues to happen (with no ill will or intent) you will start to get weird looks or even escorted out.. possibly even banned. If the physical reaction is non sexual, the only people thinking of it sexually are the people bothered by it
