Hello! soon I will be visiting my first nudist resort and I have a couple (stupid) questions... When I go to check in should I already be naked... meaning I leave all my clothes in my car?

TerryJul 30, 2009Nope, not stupid. Just walk in clothed from your car, check in and park wherever they specify. You'll have plenty of time to undress after you park. There may or may not be staffers who are naked. However you walk into the office they should make you feel welcome. At our club people just get ot of the vehicle and walk in dressed. When I go down for ice or whatever I'm already naked, so that's how I go in.

catbirdJul 31, 2009When you check in, it is best to be clothed. However if you later have need to go to the office (i.e. get ice) then you may be nude.

George_in_WVJul 31, 2009On my first visit to a nudist campground I was dressed when I went into the office and signed in. After getting their welcome package I was told to drive down to another parking lot where I would be met by someone that would give me a tour. On the way to that lot I saw a lot of nude people, so when I got to where I was told to go I undressed because even though I did not know anyone there I did not want to embarrass myself by being dressed.

Curt, or CowboyJul 31, 2009Anyplace I've been, I find it a good idea to walk up clothed, along with wallet, cash, glasses, whatever you might need to get checked in. It just seems the courteous thing to do, is let them know you're there, etc. before assuming anything. ( like where to park, whatever )
Afterwords, you're pretty much on your own, else they will give you instructions if you ask. Tell them it's your first time visit. They may have a first time free policy. In any case, your questions will fit right in with a first time visit no matter who or where you are.
Someone suggested a pack. I make ( and have for sale ) towels with pockets, as I too have "stuff" to carry. Smokes, cell phone, glasses......
It's pretty much mandatory that your towel be very available to you, and I like to carry as little as possible ( to be as nude as possible ) so I try to keep it to ONE item, my towel with pockets.
Sandals are also a good idea, as gravel driveways and such can be a challenge, and black top in the sun will hurt you !ReactReply - CD
Cheri Donna DawsonJan 2, 2010
It varies from club to club. In most cases you will need to contact the club before you show up so just ask them how they want you to do it. There is no need to feel nervous that you might do it "wrong" the important thing is to go and experience what nudism is all about.
This is the best response. Having been to over 50 clubs, resorts, beaches, etc. during the 40+ years of being a nudist it really does depend on which nudist park or resort you visit. If you tell us, maybe we can help more. At Laguna del Sol, check into office before disrobing since their road is public where you park to check in. Cedar Creek is very private, you can disrobe when you stop/park your car. Just make sure you do take your wallet as you will probably need to have your drivers license available for ID purposes as well as your national organization affiliation for discounts on daily grounds fees. NakedBadgerJan 2, 2010Whenever I go to a new place for the first time, I usually keep my clothes on when I first check in: sometimes, though, I ask if i can strip after checking in, and the response has most often been, "Well, that's what you're here for, isn't it?" But it does seem most, well, "polite" to wait and get checked in (and checked out, as it were) before getting naked. After I've been at a resort once or twice, though, I've been known to be naked before checking in: after I've demonstrated that I'm not going to be a hazard to the place.

I have been waiting so long for the wife to agree, maybe soon though, I don't know if I can wait till the checkin.....chuckle!
ReactReply - MEMemberMar 25, 2010
I will have a similar experience next week, my first check in into a nudist resort. Being a very frank and open persone i rarely feel embarressed or shy. My guess is a clothed approach at the frontdesk is best. Arriving at the resort on scooter also limits me to undressing before entering the resort, where would I put all my stuff hahaha ! I dont think I will undress before setteling down in my room, put my bags and other stuff away first. I usually carry a small backpack with all my essentials in it ( towel, wallet, Ipod ) and slippers to avoid blisters from heated roadways/sidewalks. just relax and have a great time. let us know what your experiences have been.
Lipuma...how was your first experience? As wonderful as you knew it would be? JenReactReply

Others such as Laguna del Sol, you have to park outside of their gate to register. Hugs, CheriReactReply - MEMemberMar 25, 2010
I was dressed when I arrived at my resort, and it was customary to be clothed somehow in the reception area. All other areas guests were free to be as bare as they liked.
Hey, if you are checking in, you will require to produce payment and ID. where ya gonna find that if you have already stripped down!ReactReply - ST
SteveMar 25, 2010Do call ahead, or if you're the least bit uncertain, stay dressed until you're checked in. Some friends were gathering at Orr Hot Springs a few years ago; the last car to arrive was a couple; the guy undressed before checking in, and the resort refused both of them admission - seems, at least at Orr, that there's a clothing requirement in the lobby.

BobnBarbieJun 14, 2010This past weekend was my first experience with a nudist resort. I simply followed my 2 rules of thumb that were appropriate for this situation. Rule of thumb #1 Check in as if you were checking in to any hotel, motel, or resort. Typically, if there are any rules that need to be stated, the staff will do so. If they don't and you're new to the facility.....ASK. Rule of thumb #2 When in Rome do as the Romans do. If you know the rules and follow them you'll be at ease.
The first experience at the resort was GREAT! The wife and I went with nudist friends and made more friends. It was the most relaxing , friendly, and stress-free weekend we've had in years. We will be continuing this life style and visiting more clubs and resorts.

Miss_LindaJun 23, 2010
On my first visit, I checked in clothed, as soon as I left the office, I was told welcome to the resort and feel free to go nude from this point on.
That sounds like fun.ReactReply - JA
JackNeilsonJun 23, 2010I checked in clothed, drove to the assigned parking area and then disrobed. It seemed the polite thing to do.

Castaway-RobSep 10, 2010Being in strange circumstances and somewhere new can be a little stressful for all of us.
The key thing I have noticed about the nudist/naturist movement is it allows people to be free and comfortable.
Don't stress, a quick look around at other people will allow you to decide when/where and how one disrobes.
becuase the main resort I go to is largely a camping ground, one usually checks in clothed, proceeds to the camp site and sets up home and then , somewhere in there, the clothes can coem off before heading to the pool complex for a refreshing dip and some freindly smiles.ReactReply - MEMemberOct 6, 2012
During my first visit to a nudist resort, the check-in and payment process was done clothed. On later visits,I simply carried my wallet with me to the office after getting naked. Now that my wife and I are members,we are able to let ourselves in,and there is no check in or payment process. We simply park and get naked.
ReactReply - MEMemberOct 6, 2012Short and simple answer: contact the particular resort, and ask them directly. They will tell you what their policies and procedures are.
They want you to have a pleasant first experience with them, so that you'll want to return, and maybe even recommend them to others.ReactReply - WO
