I’ve only recently become interested in nude recreation and am very new to this site so hopefully I’m posting this in the correct forum. Next month I will be experiencing my first nude recreation outing and after perusing some of the photographs here and on other nudist sites, I’ve noticed that most of the guys and gals sport pubic hair. When I underwent a vasectomy in my late thirties, I was instructed to completely shave for hygienic purposes and this was my very first experience with it. I actually found that I much preferred the feel of it over having hair in that area and so I have since kept myself hairless. Now having viewed the aforementioned photographs of other practicing nudists, I was curious if this is acceptable for men from an etiquette perspective as far as attending public nudist functions or is having hair there a part of being “natural”? Or does this make some kind of statement that I’m not looking to make? I welcome the comments of any here who would be kind enough to offer their opinion.

Glad you had a good experience. I think, personally, nudists don't care. That's a great thing about being a nudist - be yourself, polite, respectful and just relax and have fun. It is a personal decision and done for you. I don't care or rather don't choose to like somebody because they do or don't have pubic hair. For me, I like to shave in the summer - during the warmer months, I find it cooler and cleaner. Other times of the year, I might not or just trim. I have met so many great nudists and they just like me for me and vice versa. It's truly a wonderful lifestyle. And let's face, isn't variety and uniqueness another great part of life? Wouldn't it be boring if we were all cookie cutter nudists? I am so thankful for my fellow nudist friends - shaved, trimmed, or not at all. You make my life nicer! Thank you!

mallardm45Sep 20, 2011When your visiting any nudist function or resort the people there are looking at you as a person and not becuase you have no fur to wear down south. This is your option and so long as you don't flaunt it you will have no trouble at all. The resort I visit there are men and woman who are natural and those who shave or like me who trim and shave the testicals. No one is offended and no one say anything about it. Just go and be yourself smile and say hello and they will respond in like form. Enjoy yourself, do not worry true nudist are not that small minded.

BrianNov 27, 2011I am shaved all over because I find the smooth feeling quite comfortable. Additionally, where I am it can get quite cold in the winter. I keep smooth because I find that I can still feel naked even when bundled up.

gator1Nov 27, 2011
Personally I think that pubes look a tangled mess - so prefer to be smooth. It's just part of teh general care I take in my appearance. I wasn't a nudist, I'm not sure I would bother though as not many people tends to see them when you are clothed. That said it does feel better too. The big issue to overcome is public showers after the gym and doctor visits etc - I have had the odd comment, but nothing we smoothies can't handle!
Not currently working out at the gym, but I did for a few years, and never had anyone comment about me being shaved smooth. There were a few stares, but no comments.

nudist_tjDec 4, 2011My opinion on the removal of body hair has always been "personal preference". Just like if you choose to shave your face or grow a beard, same with pubic hair. If you'd rather shave your pubic hair then go for it, that's your choice. I choose not to but that doesn't mean someone else can't if they prefer being smooth.

nudonyDec 5, 2011On a side note. I started going to Mazo beach this summer. Now, at the resorts I've visited, the smooth/hairy ratio was anywhere from 50/50 to 20/80. At Mazo Beach, it is more like 90/10. An overwhelming number of people there are smooth. It's actually a little odd sometimes to not see one pubic hair around you. I'm not sure if it's because the beach nudist scene is less "traditional"; or if it is a regional thing. I don't normally shave completely; but then I thought: "Well...When in Rome."I guess my point is that "reverse peer pressure" does happen too.

flsmoothieDec 12, 2011Had the same problem with condoms pulling at hairs. Also had times were two hairs got knotted with each other and started pulling each other out...OUCH!

Centauri4Dec 16, 2011The more I see it the more I am liking the smooth look on all persons. I am presently trimmed very closely, not waxed, and think it both looks good and feels good. Never heard of the problem with condoms pulling out hairs until now. Jeez, what sort of mattress gymnastics are you guys doing?
The majority of images on the Internet, both professionally taken and amature, are appearing to feature completely deforested pubic regions and this makes me think "the look" is going to be the thing from now forward. A nicely sculpted body, chiseled abs, tanned legs and a great smile all look especially nice on a nudist, so why not see a buffed and polished johnson or jane as well!?!
The younger, fit men and women of these photographs really set the "fitness bar" rather high and I think aslo raise the stakes in advertising and marketing campaigns. I mean, when the "ordinary" people start looking like Olympic athletes, than it means advertisers will have to raise the bar another notch to get their models noticed. Where are they going to raise it to?!? Nudity, perhaps?
Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention a piece of Egyptian hieroglyphs seen in the Chicago area this year that depicted a male being shaved in ancient times! The "barber" if that what they were called back then, had a hold of Mr. Customer by the "root stalk" (literally) and was using a large blade to remove the pubic hair! So, wow! How many guys would be "ok" with a barber yanking their crank and swinging a straight razor around down there in the name of asthetics?? (inquiring minds want to know...)
This Egyptian artwork was smack, dab in the middle of a public exhibit where anyone of all ages could view it.

I first started trimming in 1988 when I first purchased a white thong swimsuit, but after it got wet it became very see-thru as did my girlfriends white G-string. We decided it looked better if we both shaved before going swimming with dark patches showing thru the material. I had never been to a nude beach at that time, but a few years later I was still shaved and we went to europe for vacation and we went to a French nude beach and back in 1990 we were the only ones completely smooth of all the nudist on the beach at first it felt awkward, but after a few day we noticed quite a few of the women who had perviously had hairy or trimmed bushes were now as bare as we were, but there was never a comment from anyone

kramtrohsFeb 1, 2012You can do what ever you feel comfortable with, I get waxed & love it, & there are plenty of people at my nudist club that are also smooth, & plenty that have hair... It doesn't really matter!!

MitchMar 22, 2012There are oodles of threads here about shaving...I started one myself.
Though my choice is based solely on laziness. I may trim on occasion, but I do not shave as I do not want to mess with the upkeep. The same with my head, I cut my own hair with a buzz cut and then just let it grown back to a half inch or so, and then do it again. Amazing the amount of shampoo I save,. lol.ReactReply - SI
silversurferMar 23, 2012I shaved a couple years ago after seeing a lot of people on the old skinbook this way and like the way it feels and looks. I shave every couple of days.

GrantApr 15, 2012It feels great to be smooth, but quiet labor intensive at the rate hair grows. I used to have it waxed, which was great for 4-6 weeks and the itch started, like one day after shaving. It drove me crazy. It feels best now, just trimming it.ReactReply - MEMemberApr 24, 2012I guess it has not got any relation with be a nudist or nudist phylosophy... at my gym I see a lot of men who have their genitals shaved and I don´t know if they are nudist or not.... personally I shave my balls by practical reasons and trim the upper side because it generates less sweat ---> thus more hygienic and I feel better in sexuals aspects
But it is a choice that only you can make it... shave don´t need a lot of attention just do it once per week and goReactReply - BR
BrianMay 1, 2012Personally I shave because I like how it feels. I've never really cared for looks in regards to anything. I've always done what I believe is comfortable.
