Ive read different post and subsequent replies in here about nudism and exhibitionism. It seems to be an even more common theme with couples.
First, extortionist are seeking attention. A Nudist is not. It is possible however to be both. When I was married, my ex and in were both nudist. We enjoyed freedom around the house, lakes, rivers, resorts, etc. most of the time we were there for purely Nudist reasons. There were times where she might see an attractive man or I would see an attractive woman and maybe take a little more care with taking our clothes off, seeking attention, but not in a sexual manner.
Lastly, there were times, not in Nudist settings, where she would show off to get attention and I would enjoy watching other men and women react.
You can be both. The key for us was to be appropriate for the environment. At a resort, we would act one way and at strip clubs, bars, etc, another way. The lines can be blurred but shouldnt be crossed. Just my two cents.

JohnJan 2, 2021I agree. Being nude doesn't mean you can't flirt a little, as long as everybody is on the same page. But there's a big difference between flirting with people and hitting on them, or making them uncomfortable with your nudity. And if you're getting the vibe that you've overstepped that limit, apologies are in order.

StevieLornaJan 3, 2021Here is the difference.
A naturist at a naturist beach is a naturist.
An exhibitionist at a naturist beach is an idiot.
If you go to a naturist beach to get a thrill from exposing yourself to people who think nudity is perfectly normal then there is no thrill, as you cant evoke the desired reaction.

JohnJan 3, 2021That's an interesting take on that! It's like singing bawdy songs in front of deaf people.

JerryNov 30, 2024That response is silly and naive. People are who they are. If you are and exhibitionist, you are perfectly fine on a nude beach. You will just enjoy being seen more than the rest of everyone else. SO WHAT!!1 Stop worrying about other people and just enjoy being naked how it is you enjoy it. Otherwise, you will just frustrate yourself trying to force everyone else to conform with your ideals.

StevieLornaNov 30, 2024Thats the real problem right there.
Idiots never know they are idiots.
Its like an exhibitionist flashing his dick to a field of naked men, hes not impressing anyone or making them worry about it. Hes just a fool.

However, I don' t think it is a problem if someone enjoys being seen nude in an appropriate location.ReactReply - ST

AnthonyNov 30, 2024Believe it or not, a lot of men (not just gay ones) seem to enjoy seeing other men naked, and get turned on at the sight of a hard cock.
But that has nothing to do with naturism/nudism and - whether welcomed or not, by the opposite sex or the same - is not appropriate in most naturist settings If you're in a specifically adult swingers/cruising set up then that's what everyone is there for, so do whatever floats your boat, but otherwise, if you can't keep it out of everyone's face, keep it in your pants, or clear off somewhere else!ReactReply - MEMemberApr 17, 2025
The definition of the word exhibitionism ek-s-bi-sh-ni-zm 1 a : a perversion in which sexual gratification is obtained from the indecent exposure of one's genitals (as to a stranger) b : an act of such exposure 2 : the act or practice of behaving so as to attract attention to oneself Still think its fine at the beach?
They are not the problem, your closed minded views are. Someone into nudism citing a definition and not understanding the gray lines is pretty comical. Being an exhibitionist to most simply means they enjoy the act of being seen. It does not mean throwing on a trenchcoat and go flashing everyone. It doesn't mean waving a dick around in a woman's face. They simply enjoy when someone sees them in their natural state. If you have a problem with that fact, that is a YOU problem, not a them problem...ReactReply

Definition 1 specifically refers to the erotic aspect, and a psychologist's definition requires that exposing oneself is a necessary component of sexual gratification. Definition 2 doesn't require that. It simply connotes a need for other people to see you. In that sense, singers and actors and dancers and sportspeople are exhibitionists, because they want people to look at them and pay attention to them. It's harmless unless it's unavoidable and intrudes on other people's space or sensibilities. So I don't mind if somebody is doing cartwheels along the beach, showing everybody their skill at it. If they get an erotic thrill out of it, I wouldn't begrudge them. If they start waving their dicks around, though, they cross that line into inappropriate behavior. If a woman is jogging naked along a beach and I enjoy the sight of her boobs bouncing, that's exhibitionism only if she's doing it specifically to arouse me. If she just enjoys the sensation and would be doing it whether I was around or not, that wouldn't be exhibitionism. What's happening inside my head is my business, not hers.ReactReply - ST
StevieLornaApr 23, 2025Ok some people dont like word definitions and would rather live in the grey areas when as a nudist can be an exhibitionist too.
Why is it so difficult for some to say they are exhibitionist that just do it on nudist beaches. Whats the problem with that ?
As for actors, singers and sports people being exhibitionist because lots of people see them. That doesnt take into account that most never make the big time.
In fact Ill take out sports people from that scenario as 100s of millions of people play or take part in sport for the simple joy that it gives them, only a tiny proportion become professional enough to get any attention. They are more akin to nudist philosophy of just doing it for the personal joy it brings you.

I like to sing with people in an informal setting, like around a campfire or a jam session. When there's nobody around, I sing to myself for the pleasure of it. But when I have the chance to sing before an appreciative audience, yes, I enjoy the attention. I guess that makes me an exhibitionist. StevieLornaApr 25, 2025Woodsman is seems like you are twisting yourself pretzel shaped trying to justify what an exhibitionist is.
If you ask people what a nudist is, theyll say someone who likes walking about with no clothes on.
Ask them what an exhibitionist is, theyll say someone who likes flashing their dick/tits at strangers.
People who sing dont figure in the thought process.
As for the . I have read guy.
I have read the pope takes a bath naked, that does not make him a nudist. In the same way a septuagenarian wearing inappropriate shorts doesnt make him Catherine Bach

Ask them what an exhibitionist is, theyll say someone who likes flashing their dick/tits at strangers.
I have no problem with that definition. That's because there's a distinct element of sexuality in it. Same for a woman flashing her tits. I don't think I made myself clear about exhibitionism. For me, it encompasses any attempt to call attention to oneself, like the kid whizzing past you on a bicycle saying "Look at me! No hands!" And I think that it is a component of any performer. Ask any singer or actor if they get a thrill out of being the center of attention and being applauded, and they're probably lying if they deny it. It's an adrenaline rush. But you are right about the sexual component being a part of what we call "exhibitionism" in nudist environments. I guess there's a distinction between "overt exhibitionism"... dick wagging or boob flashing... and "closet exhibitionism" where a person gets a thrill out of having others see them naked, but doesn't display that thrill and acts just like anybody else. I've met a few of these people, and they admit it when asked about it, but I don't have a problem being around them as long as they keep it to themselves. So nudism and the "closet" version of exhibitionism are not mutually exclusive, the way nudism and "overt exhibitionism" are. I think I see a distinction where you don't. Are we clear now?ReactReply - ST
StevieLornaMay 1, 2025Woodsman, have you heard of the term narcissist?
That better defines someone seeking adulation than exhibitionist.
Overt, closet, why do you need to make the definition of exhibitionist fluid to suit your argument?
The thrill I get from being on a nudist beach is the same if I am alone or one of a thousand people there.
An exhibitionist needs other people to see them regardless of their consent to the seeing or not.
