Artist or Model?

I've been wondering who in the group calls them self an artist and who calls them self a model. I hope I can be considered an artist. In art class my instructor always told me to keep drawing and never let me pose. But then again some people say I am a whole lot of not much to look at.
So what about all of you? Which side of the canvas do you work on? And do you have any ambitions for your skill?
