I was backpacking on the Foothills Trail in SC a couple of weeks ago. When I get to my campsite, if I'm alone and in the middle of the woods, i usually strip off and enjoy camp nude. One morning i was doing that and I heard voices on the trai. I looked up and saw a family with young kids approaching. I hurriedly put my shorts on. I don't think they saw me. A few days later (I was on the trail for a week) I had just set up camp, nude of course, when I heard footsteps on the trail that suddenly stopped. I figured someone had seen me, so I quickly put on my shorts. After a few minutes of not hearing any more activity, I went to investigate who it might have been. I saw some trail maintenance equipment, but nobody around. There was a short spur trail there, so I figured the must have gone there. I didn't hear anything more that night. The next morning when I was back on the trail (wearing shorts) I came across 3 young ladies getting ready to do some trail maintenance. I recognized the equipment that I had seen the night before. We talked for a while and one of them asked if I had camped at the campsite that I had. When I said yes, she said "I saw you". Fortunately one of the other ladies changed the subject before I needed to respond. LOL

    there should be more open trails for nudist hiking and camping on federal property and signs posted in designated areas ] you may encounter nude hikers - campers . mere nudity shouldn't be illegal, when I hike off grid I behave and sure i've been caught nude but I was behaving . I don't know if this will ever change .

    I was pleased that the trail maintenance person that I never saw that night turned out to be a lady. I kinda wish she had been more explicit and we could have talked about it. All three were attractive young ladies.

    I wish she had been more explicit and said I saw you naked. That would have been embarrassing but thrilling. Then we could have talked about it. All three young ladies were attractive.

    I'm planning a week long backpacking trip on the Bartram Trail this spring. I plan on only wearing a quick dry "kilt" when hiking, tucked up most of the time. In camp, nude if I'm alone.

    I will have to check out the quick dry kilt that sounds interesting. I agree though that hiking naked should be allowed. at least some designated areas with signs.

    Designated walking area sound great, just like designated naturist beaches, here in the UK in theory it is ok to hike naked anywhere

    I have heard of a lot of people hiking nude in National parks or forests. They go deeper into and away from higher traffic areas. I want to try. lol
