You opened a big ol can of worms.
Sipping or mixing?
Price range?
Corn, wheat, barley, peated? My favorite sipping: Highland Park 12 year scotch,
Wellers bourbon, and Balcones Rumble. My favorite mixing: Evan Williams bottled in bond, Buffalo Trace, and Naked Malt.

ErlFeb 13, 2024I like bourbons myself. My go to is Makers Mark, but if Im feeling budget conscious Even Williams is inexpensive and tastes pretty close.

Anonymous StarfishFeb 7, 2025Just a few good ones?
Bourbons available on the shelf: Old Forester Statesman, Heaven Hill 7-year Bottled in Bond, Hidden Barn bourbons
Scotches: Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 12-year. Laphroaig Cairdeas (especially port finish), Balvenie Doublewood
Others: Jameson 12-year Irish whisky (I have the 18-year but that is up there on the wallet damage)

KarthorelApr 18, 2025Oh my, so many choices...
Going with peated Scotch whiskies:
- Laphroaig (anything, like a delicious campfire on your tongue)
- Jura (the 10 is lovely, with notes of honey. The 12 is even better. The seven wood is divine)
- Auchentoshan, great, smooth, and best for introducing new drinkers
- Talisker is excellent, most variants. Some more smokey than others.ReactReply
