Since I live on a busy through street, I obviously can't be nude.
My normal attire now is 3" gym shorts and no shirt.
I am considering 2 possibilities for wear even less.
1. Open the side seams and crotch on the shorts. Similar coverage but less constrained.
2. Wear a 2"side tan through swim brief. Less coverage, lighter weight fabric, no tan line, but more confining.
Any suggestions?

A tan-through tanga in one size too big might be even less coverage and would be less confining but you will have to avoid this problem when putting them on.
Once on properly they are quite secure.

I had at least two tangas at one time before I got the privacy fence around the pool.
One was as minimal as possible, with panels about 4" wide and just a narrow band of elastic covering them.
I didn't keep that one because I decided it showed too much, even for the back yard.
A more typical tanga could be a possibility at some point, but I got rid of the last one when I put up the privacy fence.
Maybe I will try the swim brief first, and after I get comfortable with that buy a tanga for front yard use.

For that matter, maybe I should start by trying my 3" inseam tan through swim suit for front yard work and see if the lighter weight material gives me the comfort I want without exposing any more skin.

Why not try a very short wrap, skirt or kilt? Some of mine are only 14 inches from waistband to hem. They are very unconstraining with nothing between the legs

Kilt sounds promising. Do you know if there are short cotton ones?

    One possible problem, though.
When I walk a significant distance nude (or in very short shorts or swim briefs), I get chafing on my upper thighs.
Do you ever experience that in a kilt (or nude for that matter)?
Do you have any advice as to how to avoid it?
