Would you shave your beard off for any reason?

I wouldn't. I'd lose all my friends if I did and I wouldn't get compliments from other bearded men when I am out and about, especially if I compliment them first!!

I would not even let them shave my chest for an ECG - they still managed OK :-). Nobody removes my body hair !

OK, if I had some medical condition that required me to shave my beard, I'd do it for that.
My desire is to be as authentically me as I can be. And allowing my beard and hair to grow is part of that. I don't shave, cut, or trim any hair -- except for evil nose hairs -- they get ripped out.

I really try not to. I worked on my beard 7 years to grow it that long, I don't want to destroy the work. I can be happy that I found a work, where I don't have to cut my beard shorter or even shave.

Right now I am growing it out and enjoying the new look.

I've had my beard for 56 years and never shaved it. And I never will. Now it is white I enjoy playing nude Santa at Christmas. Then I grow it longer.

After letting my beard grow for 20 months. I shaved mine off. I'd never let my beard grow to that length before. It was a great journey. I loved getting people's reactions, both positive and negative. I just took it all in stride. I loved my beard. I had double knee replacement and I shaved before surgery. I did keep my stache. I've had it for 42 years. I keep alittle stubble on my face now. Who knows when I'll wake up and not shave for another 20 months or longer.

It would have to be required for some medical reason.
If my job absolutely required it -- shave or quit -- I'd get a different job.

I would grudgingly shave off my beard of 34 years for medical reasons or if someone really special to me would ask me to (that person currently likes my beard).

Not sure at this point. It would have to be a pretty serious reason.
I have had a beard off and on for many years and now that I'm retired there is no one to impress by going clean shaven. For now I am letting the beard grow and am quite enjoying it. One advantage to my beard is that it comes in a definite gray and I find that people are better at judging my age now that I'm leaving the beard alone. Longer hair, long beard, I'm okay being a 60 plus hippy.
I was out walking the other day and some random young thing goes "great beard"...I never get comments when I'm clean shaven.

I shaved it last year when I had a skin cancer removed. I enjoyed the clean-shaven look for a while, but I got tired of shaving every day. I don't consider my beard to be an essential part of me. It's just a look. I am puzzled by the fact that it's been gray/white for many years (along with all my body hair), but my head hair gets darker. I have had people tell me they assume that I dye my hair ("No, I don't even always comb it").

I shaved off my impressively lengthy beard for Movember charity about two years ago. I started work at a new place and thought it would be good to engage in it.
Wish I hadn't - I only raised about 30. One other chap raised 300 for a shaving off his standard length beard. Other participants did half hearted attempted attempts at growing a goatee for the event.

I have occationally shaved it off. It's not really a problem. It will return within a few weeks. If I had a long beard, it could be very different.
