I will soon have my first colonoscopy since becoming a full time freeballer.
I have some concern about leakage after the procedure.
Has anyone here had the same concern?
If so, how did you deal with it?

JohnJan 30, 2022I didn't have any issues after the procedure. I will tell you the "prep" before hand can be an eye-opener. Get comfy on the throne.

dennisJan 30, 2022I am sure some of us felt that more than others. Don't remember any for the colonoscopy. But the cancer ops left 5 2 inch patches.

PaulJan 31, 2022I've had three colonoscopies. There's nothing in your colon to leak.
Anesthesia is entirely unnecessary at least 99.999% of the time.
If you refuse sedation, then when it's over, you just get dressed and go on about your day. If you are sedated, you have to remain there for at least two hours, have someone drive you home, and you can't drive or operate other equipment for 24 hours. All for a 20-minute minor procedure.
The scope is about as big around as your little finger.

I've had four colonoscopies and none of them caused urinary leaking or dribbling. Getting old has and I frequently wear absorbent men's briefs.

JohnJan 31, 2022
Like John, I've had no after-effects from the 3 I've had. There's nothing left to leak. While I don't particularly enjoy the prep, the anesthesia at least provides a good nap. It's really not a big deal. Even when I had polyps removed and samples taken, I felt nothing afterward.
I didn't get any anesthesia.
Military (Tricare) is cheap that way. Didn't really need it. While it was a bit uncomfortable, there was no pain.

SirBareAlotJan 31, 2022I've had three of these fun filled procedures. The procedure itself is a big nothing, but the prep the day before is the worst part. I hate jello now.
Like previously said, keep close to the throne. Once you ingest the colon-blow, get ready... I think I pooped out my liver and a lung at some point.ReactReply - TD
Tom DOriginal PosterJan 31, 2022I have experienced several colonoscopies in the past. Just never without wearing underwear. My question should have been if you drink something before eating anything, I have experienced a little leakage. Has anyone ever has this problem and if so how do you handle it?

JohnJan 31, 2022I've had two of them, the last a couple of weeks ago. I wore undershorts as insurance against leakage, but they weren't necessary. The prep stuff pretty much cleaned me out of anything that might leak.
I suggest that you read Dave Barry's column on colonoscopies. It's hilarious and accurate:

Well, maybe not entirely accurate, although it rings true, like this passage:
"And then, when you figure you must be totally empty, you have to drink another liter of MoviPrep, at which point, as far as I can tell, your bowels travel into the future and start eliminating food that you have not even eaten yet."

MFeb 10, 2022I have one every other year due to being at risk. Had 4 now and have not had any leakage. As everyone has mentioned.. The worse part is the prep.

After 20 years in the risk zone I now get one every year. I think I've had 15 so far. They really aren't that big of a deal. Even the prep has gotten easier once I learned to mix the "powdered fun" with yellow Gatorade instead of water. C will be getting her first this year, but she's gotten to witness most of my preps.ReactReply - J
JJan 18, 2023I had no problem without any underwear. Prep is the only draw back.

J.Feb 28, 2023
My experience is pretty much the same as others here - the prep is just awful but the actual procedure and is over before you know it and you can't wait to eat something and start drinking coffee again!
I cant wait to drink Margaritas again, but have to wait until the next day.ReactReply
