  I think some people join this site as they think it's a bit of soft porn and want to look at naked people. I have no problem with people wanting to hide some images but they should have one or 2 free to be seen - not necessarily naked.
  I do think that if they hide their images they should at least accept genuine/verified members as friends.

  There is another side of this too. Not everyone here is interested in collecting friends. I started visiting TN to learn about the culture. Now that I've been here for awhile, I answer more questions than I ask. I only interact on the forums and groups and have no interest in accepting friend requests. That said, I do have a public profile because I want everyone to have some idea of who is replying. It does seem that most of who have private profiles only interact in chat. I'm not sure if that means anything. Most here simply ignore private profiles and I think that is exactly what those with private profiles want. Feel free to ignore me to ;-)

  One of my main objectives here is to learn more about organized nude recreation and meet the local area prospective members for a club in our area. We can and have travlled 450 k, a choice of Prairie suns and Green Haven, or go on vacation to other places. Online is not a first choice. A private profile would not serve me well however if a good prospect for a local club member appeared in my neighborhood i would want a place of attraction here,

  Members with private profile should NOT be allowed to post on the Forums. If they want privacy, then WHY join a nudist site ?

  Public profile does not mean public pictures!!!
  
  There is fundamental flaw in the site as allowing private profiles. I think profile pic and some basic info should at all times be public if someone is on the site. Then, some other details like exact location or professional info etc. one should be able to hold private, as well as pics (with current settings at least pics can separately be kept private). Also private profiles probably contradict their purpose as those who here for a reason tend to despise them but those with dubious motivation are not probably anyhow hindered to send unsolicited friend requests in order to satisfy their curiosity about private profiles.
  
  Solution:All profile info + profile pic are at all times public, but in addition to that, there would be separate chapter "info for friends only" where one could write info that could be read by people on one's friends' list only. That would help out a lot to keep the site open and informative but not restricting people's right to privacy (as profile pic shouldn't have to be face shot).
  
  This is my humble suggestion to reform the site. Or another would be: keep private profiles available, but ban them from seeing other people's profiles, pictures and participating in Forum (unless maybe creating Forum Topic "Private Profiles Talk") or Chat.

  Ok, Like someone already said, maybe they are being honest and don't want there info to be accessable to just anyone. Now then, about the "not allowing pervs to view ones profile or pictures". Why would a true nudist care if it's a perv or not that's viewing their pics? Same for the cams in chatroom. Why have your cam on, if you don't want to allow everyone to view? For real, I am pretty sure that in a real nudist area, you can't control who looks and who doesn't. Heck, why even pay any attention to who is viewing? I just don't understand the big deal. If my cam is on, you are free to look as long as you can tolerate it....:>)

  How many moderators on this site have private profiles?
  And for my 2 cents I agree open legged display of genitals or photos that have the genitalia as centre of the photos should be killed off, but then that might affect the sites revenue as the voyeurs wont pay to see benign photos.

  Screen names usually reflect a quality or something about us. Sometimes it can be a conversation starter. ALL people against private profiles aren't using fictitious names... Some are!

  Private profiles and messagesPerhaps just me as i generally access the site from my mobile phone, but i cannot send a message or friend request to anyone who has marked their profile as private. If i click on the message button, it asks me to join or login, despite the fact that i am already logged in. Even if i click the login button, the problem is not resolved.

  I am a new member, and a new Naturist. In fact, I am technically a naturist virgin because I have yet to go to a CO place.
  My take is this:
  If you are going to be seen, in public or public forum in photos or videos without textiles, IMHO you are hypocritical to complain about how others see you or use images of you for their own pleasure. The only issue I have with anyone using the images I post on this site of me in any state of dress is if they profit from it. In that case, I would ask "Where is my cut!"
  If some idjit gets all excited over photos of me, so be it. As long as he does not search me out and start harassing me personally, I ain't got not problem with it.

  When at a nude location physically, such as a resort, there will usually be a rule that no photos are allowed. Being required to post a nude photo would be roughly equal to allowing cameras at a resort. Your image then can make it's rounds to places unknown. So, I perfectly well understand people who do not wish to publish for general viewing nude photos or any identifying photos.
  
  That said, I also think since the capability/permission exists to not post photos or mark them for friends only, profiles should be public. You do get to chose the info and your user name. But information that tells a bit about you is unlikely to allow someone to pick you out of the 7 billion people on the face of the earth.
  
  So, fill out your profile with enough info to give a bit of a view of your interests and ponder what level of photographic exposure you are comfortable with.
  
  There is another nudist site will allow private profiles and interestingly enough, the members photos are often public! Long after they have left the site, their discontinued profiles have viewable photos. That is what I call strange!
