a question of taste maybe?

Im hoping this is the right place to pose this question but the long and the short of it i have recently had surgery to remove bladder stones and have been left with a tube sticking out of my lower tummy. What im wondering is just how this will be perceived or accepted by other naturists? Will it be accepted or will it be met with distain? I have been a naturist for a long time now.... about 25 years and would hate to have to abandon the lifestyle but I dont want to upset anyone.... what should i do now? Any opinion is welcome as long as its constructive!

    Many years ago in a nudist camp in New England, we saw a young woman wearing a colostomy bag. No one made an issue of it, but she did have a small towel covering it. She was a very outgoing individual, obviously having resolved in her mind that such a health issue wasn't going to impede her enjoyment of life in any way. And she had a dark, all-over tan to prove it. Just be yourself, that's what people will identify with you, much more so than a tube.

    [quote] recently had surgery --- have been left with a tube sticking out [/quote]More than anything, whenever I've seen/noticed, I'm generally overcome with a sense of admiration for the person who does not let incidental cosmetic adversity stop them. Moreso for more severe "malformations" like a missing limb, or radical mastectomy.

    Real naturists/nudists are not so superficial as this site might sometimes suggest.

    I have been a nudist for over 15 years now and have seen a lot

    of things like mastectomies and colonoscopy bags. Don’t abandon your lifestyle

    just because you have a tube sticking out of your body. Accept your body as it

    is, just like you would not stop driving your car because there is a small dent

    in the door.

    In your case I would say that the important for you is to make sure you take proper care of the appliance. Do whatever it takes to prevent infection and keep the device in place. If it is draining, have the proper receptacle hooked up to catch the discharge. If you feel the need, cover it with tape and gauze or a towel. Other than that, life is to live and your medical procedures are meant to help you live life to the fullest and not hinder your enjoyment of life. Everyone needs to be very accepting of these occurrences because any one of us could be the next person who may need this compassion.

    Desert Rat is so right about this.  And his advice about avoiding infection is good.  I had a good friend with a colostomy bag and I made sure that he knew that it was no problem for me and my friends and he eventually became perfectly comfortable with it showing at the beach.  Get out there enjoy and if anyone is ignorant enough to say something stupid, a withering glance always works.
