Adding "Friends" Who Are Not Real Friends

What is the point of adding 'friends' to a friends list when these so called friends never reply to messages or engage in any kind of meaningful conversation? I am cleaning out my 'friends' list and deleting most right and left because many left this site years ago or do not reply to messages. Sadly, it seems that most of the real nudists of some substance have left this site and what appears to be left are picture collectors or those who wish to live in a fantasy world where they imagine a bunch of real friends. Who else is getting rid of the so called 'friends'?

I have always checked for some common factor when viewing a friend request. One of the things I look for is the number of friends that person has. That's why you will see that I have very few friends, and even fewer who have corresponded with me.

I'm glad someone has brought this up, what's the point of so called friends list, if someone came up to you in the street and said I want to be your friend the reply would be a rude one that's for sure.
On here I like your profile......... how about Hi my name is ***** and I'm from ****** I have been a nudist for XXXX number of years do you get the drift.
If you want to be my friend do the above, if not are you just collecting names just to boast to other people that you have thousands of friends all over the world, if so I feel sorry for you.

One big problem here is those who want to be 'friends' only to scam their 'friends'. The bitcoin scam is alive and well here!!

Richi is right. An effort to introduce yourself always helps. Otherwise an active profile is good. I love those who participate!

Though I am not on the site everyday, I am real and will chat to anyone, who is real, that wants to chat.

When someone requests me, I look over the profile first. A definite decline is the scammers with links to other sites. When someone randomly messages me politely to chat, they go on the block list after they ask to go to Google Hangouts to continue the conversation, which I never use to begin with.

I've come to find out from reading some articles they go into their requesting money scam on the Google Hangouts. It is a shame that some fall for it, because they are desperate and very lonely, that people think the person is actually into them when the scammers are also talking to others at the same time with the same speech.

"Friend" used to be a noun, of substance, whereas now it is just as much a verb or action. This serves to dehumanize (or more aptly "unfriend") people.
I'm selective to exclude TN friend requests who look either fake or designated as private, and often expect a response to a short message prior to accepting. On the other hand, I send friend requests to people who's postings I admire and want on my feed.
As TN is dying and the posting volumes continue to decline, I'm more interested in converting good TN contacts to friends and acquaintances outside of the platform.

I must agree to all the above listed comments. There is no advantage to adding someone as a *Friend* if there is nothing in common & no attempt to communicate. I will periodically send a general note to different friends to see if anything has changed. Its not a big deal or anything else but a simple reminder that someone out there remembers you exist & wants to say hello. Maybe its time that I checked my list, too?

Over the decade that I've been a member here, I've made and received many, many Friend Requests.
My first criterion is - does it look like I'd have anything in common with this person? Most random requests without a message are consigned to the bin.
There are a number of local guys that have moved from 'pen-friend' to real life friend. I have kept several overseas friends' contacts as, though we don't often correspond, when we do it feels like we are getting to know each other.
Every few months I clean out my list and purge it of those who didn't even respond to my 'I like to keep in contact' message.

Sadly though, there are so few of us left who actually know what real friendship is all about and how to go about developing real friendship.

Distant friends are hard to keep. I've had several who were close when we were physically close, that is live in the same town. Jobs, job changes, and activities with new friends tend to take over, and though you may make attempts to maintain contact, it gets more difficult as time passes. We had things in common, we did things together, but distance reduced the times we got together. We maintained contact with letters and phone calls, and they came farther and farther apart. Eventually, they stopped coming at all. So, if a friend is one through Internet contact, and there is little in common to begin with, it is probably a waste of energy to agree to the friend request.

I make my real friends at the beaches and with the hiking group, so what happens here is not taken too seriously.
Like most internet based nudist sites, such as this and various fb groups, most 'nudists' are wannabes. A lot of the guys I've chatted to don't actually get naked outside their house ('home nudist' seems to be a term that exists only on the internet), never get to a nude beach, and don't interact in any way socially with other naked people. It's all fantasy.
Having said that, there are a few genuine ones here which I have had interesting chats with, and am happy to have them on my friends list.
But when a blank profile - or a profile just with a skype username - requests friendship, I don't bother. Anyone who is seriously a nudist will put something meaningful in their profile.
And the ones who block their profiles or photos from non-friends. That's the height of arrogance - what they're effectively saying is, " I can see your pics, but I'm not letting you see mine".
I'll accept the friendship just so I can see their profile and/or pics, and then delete the friendship.

A digression but a warning:

The most common types of crypto scams perpetrated right now include the following:

Blackmail and extortion scams. ...
"Business opportunity" scams. ...
Fake job listing scams. ...
Giveaway scams. ...
Impersonation scams. ...
Investment scams. ...
Phishing scams. ...
Pump and dump schemes.

To protect against cryptocurrency scams, here are some of the common red flags:
1
promises for large gains or double the investment;
2
only accepting cryptocurrency as payment;
3
contractual obligations;
4
misspellings and grammatical errors in emails, social media posts or any other communication; Warning to all as this site seems to attract one bit coin scammer after another!

It's funny, when I see the 'advantages' of being someone's friend. You get to see more images. Same is platinum membership: you get to see more images of random people that someone just picked of another site.
I see pictures as the internet way of shaking a hand with a fellow nudist. That's how I like the images to be, just about the person. I thought there are much more prolific sites for tittilating images.
I flagged a 'friend-requester' who had no personal info except a link to some porn site. Actually relatively innocent, unless that's a scam too.
........As TN is dying and the posting volumes continue to decline, I'm more interested in converting good TN contacts to friends and acquaintances outside of the platform.
Yes, TN is indeed dying. The chat room is unusable and unsafe for most now except the clique members. Those who are not clique members can be banned at any time and for absolutely no reason by out of control mods who do whatever they want with impunity. The blogs section has been ruined by trolls who either bombard the blogs with complaints about other members or endless postings about the scam Nude Therapy by someone with multiple profiles. It takes weeks to get this troll banned and the scam postings removed only to have the troll come right back with a different profile. There is no one in charge who can take immediate action to ban such trolls. There also far too many fake women who are either running various scams to get money from lonely old men here or men posing as women. There is only a handful of legitimate women left and they do not engage in any kind of conversation and so what is the point of them even being here. The forum is noticeably quieter now as most of the long term legitimate members left. The question now is what does TN really have to offer anyone other then the fakes, frauds, scammers, and other assorted misfits who only come here to steal money from the lonely and unsuspecting? Yes indeed TN is sadly dying day by day now........

Mostly it was because we'd interacted online over a period of time; and because our nudist values and experiences aligned to a certain extent. And there are nudist nudes of my wife in my gallery; so there has to be a level of trust established.
I see pictures as the internet way of shaking a hand with a fellow nudist.
Because the opportunity to meet these good folks in person is remote; having nudist pics of my wife and I is a way to at least give them a glimpse into our nudist life. It's a "confirmation", of sorts.
