Nude cruises are set to make a comeback. With the coronavirus pandemic still wreaking havoc across the globe, its unclear when cruises will be able to return to the open waters. One company, however, is betting that by 2022, not only will people be able to cruise again, they also wont need clothes to do so. Bare Necessities, a company that offers nudist cruise events, has announced that it will once again be hosting its "Big Nude Boat" event in February of 2022, presumably in the hopes of allowing plenty of time for the ongoing pandemic to pass. The trip is booked on the Carnival Pride, and will last two weeks (which is apparently one week longer than previous nude cruises), according to the announcement. The announcement also details that the Carnival Pride, one of Carnivals Spirit Class boats, has a dcor theme that includes classic nude statues and paintings. As Bare Necessities writes, "Well feel right at home." In regard to the length of the cruise, the company writes, "Passengers have requested longer cruises and many have extended their vacation by taking an admittedly less fun textile cruise before or after our charter. European and Aussie travelers have said they want longer cruises to make flying across the pond or from down under truly worthwhile." The trip, which will depart from Tampa, Fla., includes stops at ports in Panama, Colombia, Bonaire, Curacao and Puerto Rico. The Port of Tampa was apparently chosen as the point of departure due to its "easy access from nudist resorts in Florida." (As the website notes, "all passengers must be dressed any time the ship is in port or the Captain announces that clothing is required.") The Big Nude Boat is scheduled to set sail Feb. 13, 2022. When its safe to cruise, nudists reportedly wont be the only travelers returning to the seas. Fox News previously reported that data collected by trade organization Cruise Lines International Association shows that a majority of "cruisers" are likely to go on a trip relatively soon. In fact, results show 73% of cruise enthusiasts surveyed would go on a cruise within a few years. A majority of those respondents also said they would go on a cruise within one year. These cruises are our favorites (we've done 6 of them) and will probably be what is needed to convince us to go on a cruise again.

We skipped booking for 2021 (which became this 2022 cruise) because it was too long. We were hoping they would alternate between the long and short cruises every other year and now we will have to wait until 2023 to find out. 10 nights was the longest we've done with them. Since we won't have a cruise at all this year, we may look for someone selling an inside cabin when we get closer to the date (all of the lower priced inside cabins were sold out before we even got on the 2020 cruise back in February).

I've been sick and disabled since 2017 from an excursion stop in the Dominican owned by a Cruise Line. My fault I new not to drink water or ice off the boat and I did get a Rum drink there. I spotted the open water well while having my drink and thought this is not good! Luann won't go again on a cruise I fear but then I'm smart enough to not say much about for now.
Positive side I survived thus far where numerous well televised American death's incidents did happen in that time. I would like to do another Nude Cruise without a doubt when I can eat regular food again.

The only sketchier place we've been to on a cruise was Haiti and that's the same island! Maybe Guadeloupe, too. Outside of cruise line controlled facilities (and there were none in Guadeloupe) our rule is bottled water or bottled beer/soda only on these islands. On the other hand, a shared cooler of rum punch on our booze bus bar tour of Curacao was fine! And we fully trust the Perch Bar at what's left of Club Orient for mixed drinks with ice.

It was an excursion through the jungle where you could zip-line over the ocean. Guadalupe sucked big time. There is something to say about staying on the boat and having it to yourself when most leave for excursions. I swear I saw some that never left the dining room the entire cruise.

We heard a lot of complaining about that excursion. We spent the day nude in the lazy river and at the bar in Amber Cove. There were a few who did the zipline over the lazy river nude, so you didnt even need to take that excursion! Guadeloupe supposedly has a nice nude beach but it is in Grand-Terre and we visited Basse-Terre. We watched some kids snapping a bull whip at each other for fun across from the dock while the ship was waiting for a party that was late getting back. We later found out they were late because they were mugged in Pointe-a-Pitre. Thats why the next year they switched the Guadeloupe stop to Martinique. Since you cant be nude in the dining room, on some BN cruises we neverenterthe dining room the entire cruise!

I would think going to the buffet nude would present greater issues than eating in the dining room.

There are dining options where you can be nude. If I remember right, on Carnival Pride in 2017, the only dining that required clothing on the ship were the formal dining room, the steak house dining, and the sushi dining. I may be wrong on those, but that's all I remember. The other places you could be nude.

Closest I have come was on the Norwegian Jewel that had a barbeque and limited buffet poolside and swim attire was permitted. Since there were a lot of European and Latin Americans on that cruise, I was less conspicuous in my Speedo Solar than I would have been on a cruise with most passengers from the US.

The trucks were military 4x4 and one was a 6x6 that wasn't stuck but did brake down. Good thing the trucks were such as it was going through the jungle as such. One very long hard trip I would never sign up for again personally. It was an experience porting that looked liked a Florida Mall then cross through the gate to see poverty for the next few hours.

That boat needs rehabbed. The archaic interior and when we were there they comped us a little bit for the construction work and hammering that went on for two days where we could not stay in our cabin.

Sometimes there are smaller snack shops elsewhere on the ship.

We have been on a couple of textile cruises on Carnival, a 3 day and a 7 day. The 3 day was too short but the 7 day seemed long enough. I cant imagine a 14 day. I have heard that they are too long. I would be nice if you can book as many days as you want on this cruise where you can debark at one of the ports and maybe even get on at one of the ports.

We did a 14 day cruise and it did not seem to be to long at all.
However, it included 6 ports and a day going through the Panama Canal.

If I can get my Luann on another nude cruise I doubt we would step off the boat with what I put her though for 4 years after the Dominican excursion. Guadalupe was a disaster as well.

The Bare Necessities cruises sound interesting but my wife and I tried a cruise with friends years ago and it just wasnt our thing. It hard to explain and we both totally understand why people would love cruises, its just not something we really enjoy. Part of it was we felt trapped and couldnt get away from people even with a large ship and excursions. I guess we are just resort people or more mobile when we take vacations that I plan without an agent.

Your correct you can not get away from people on a boat unless your in your cabin. It's all about lines. Your in line to get an elevator, buffet, the theater it's always a line to stand in or a crowd. Now this comes from a small town guy that does not have a neighbor for a mile but I would do more Nude Cruises. Heck I will hardly go into a Walmart because there is to many people. Yes sign me up none the less for a nude cruise.

I have been on the last 2 nude cruises that Bare Necessities had. Learned from the first one that I was willing to pay extra for a balcony off of our room. I enjoyed sitting there when out to sea. It would be nice to go on the cruise in 2022 bit 14 days is way too long to be away from home and the cost can be prohibitive for some people. I am hoping in 2023 they will be back to a 9-10 day cruise. As far as being dressed for the dining rooms I find that is not a problem. You can be nude in the buffet areas. I am guessing in the big picture the buffet areas will probably not be self serve and they will serve you what you want. Yes I dealt with crowds at times but for the most part I found places that were quiet. My favorite times were when we were at sea. I wish they would have more of those but a lot of people like to go offshore. Yes I would love to go again.

Does anyone know why you can be nude in the buffet but not the dining room?
I would think that being nude in a buffet could have a greater potential health risk.
In fact, I read somewhere of a clothing optional resort when nudity was permitted in the dining room but shorts or swimsuit (bottoms) were required at the buffet?

I think the nudists dress nicer in the dining room than what I saw on that last Carnival textile cruise.

We were planning to skip 2021 (now 2022) due to the length as well and have the exact same hope about mixing the lengths up and having a shorter one again in 2023. Maybe we will see you again if there is a shorter cruise! Sea days and private island stops where interaction with others not on the cruise can be avoided may become more prominent in a post-COVID world, who knows. We've been through several post-Norovirus clampdowns in the buffet where you don't serve yourself and that will probably return in the post-COVID sailings, but it isn't a big problem. The extra cleanup of the seating areas will be a bigger issue for the buffet areas, since seatings aren't controlled like they are in the MDR.

Had one cruise on Princess some years ago, relatively formal and enforced. Two Norwegian. One dining room and most upcharge restaurants required "Smart Casual" in one of the main dining rooms and most upcharge restaurants and enforced it. One Royal Caribbean. All restaurants except the buffet were supposed to be "Smart Casual" but enforcement was very lax.

Balconies on a clothing required cruise are good too.
Gives you a chance for some outdoor nude time.
We took a Norwegian cruise last March, shortly before everything shut down.
When they asked for suggestions at the end, I said one of the two adult only outdoor areas should be clothing optional. Didn't get a response.
