And the weaver said, "Speak to us of Clothes."
And he answered:
Your clothes conceal much of your beauty, yet they hide not the unbeautiful.
And though you seek in garments the freedom of privacy you may find in them a harness and a chain.
Would that you could meet the sun and the wind with more of your skin and less of your raiment,
For the breath of life is in the sunlight and the hand of life is in the wind.
Some of you say, "It is the north wind who has woven the clothes to wear."
But shame was his loom, and the softening of the sinews was his thread.
And when his work was done he laughed in the forest.
Forget not that modesty is for a shield against the eye of the unclean.
And when the unclean shall be no more, what were modesty but a fetter and a fouling of the mind?
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.

Khalil Gibran

Hopefully this thread will go a long way to 'undressing' unhealthy attitudes towards living naturally.
Once again I'm thankful for this forum, I'd feel naked without it.

The book The Prophet is great I love the part you quoted. It communicates the way I feel on a barefoot all over walk in the park

There is an often used saying; "Clothes makes the man." I believe that statement was created by the people who are selling clothes. In the past, I have spent big bucks on the finest of apparel, but no matter how expensive or how well tailored, I always looked like an unmade bed. I realized that I already had the best fitting suit of clothes all along. Since getting out of the rat race where so much relies upon dress, I now have the philosophy that less is more. Sure, I wear clothes when I go out in public but I never, ever go any place where I would be expected to wear a tie. When you get right down to it, I find that they want you to pay to go to most events or places where a tie is required. That is certainly not for me.
