Cruise ship balconies

  This question refers to any private property which has a fence: house backyard, basketball field, sun tanning balcony, passenger car, etc... The question is: may I be naked in my own private property or I have to hide my nudity from the general public anywhere, with the exception of official nudist places?
  Example: I have a wide flat roof on the third floor of my house and use this flat roof for sun tanning. There is a high building on the other side of the street and the people living there can clearly see my nudity from the windows of their 5-7 floors. May I sun tan naked on my roof?
  I understand that there may be various answers to this question and they depend on the situation of each particular country: in Germany and Iran it is different.
  I wonder whether anybody among the TN visitors can clarify the situation in Western Europe. Thank you in advance.

Thank you in advance.[/quote] Hi Max, I believe in our great country of Canada, it all depends on 2 things ... 1) your activities while naked 2) the amount of effort others have to make to see you naked.   Provided we are at sea and our balcony is not overlooked I have always gone naked on our balcony on cruises. Never had an issue.

  We had a junior suite on the Voyager of the Seas, and there was no issue going nude on the balcony. Particularly nice in the tropical weather. The deluxe and superior staterooms with balconies were not quite as private as there were gaps around the barrier between balconies.

  Have been on 5 textile cruises and its no issue being nude on your balcony!
  However being nude on hotel balconies requires a little care! Once in Victoria on Vancouver Island Canada, a car of girls did a u turn to see me a second time!

Be aware that most of the general public will not know the legal situation and a small percentage may be hostile.
  In France and Germany you will be reasonable safe and in Spain and the Spanish Islands nudity is only actually illegal in the few places which have managed to pass appropriate local laws. There is of course the same caveat about the prejudices minority.
  The Canary Islands (Spanish) are particularly relaxed about nudity and you should have absolutely trouble there provided you don't go flaunting yourself in town centres, etc. - see the pictures below.

  Been naked on my balcony many times on a non-nude cruise. However, I only do this on sea days. I try to be careful to look in the balcony glass railing to be sure that my reflection is not showing in the neighboring balcony glass, too. One time I actually saw my neighbor (whom I never saw otherwise) come out on to his balcony naked by the reflection on his balcony glass railing when I was already out on my balcony. That was kind of cool.

  I just need to take a bloody vacation period. Other than the Jet Catamarans that go across to Catalina Island, I have never been on a large ship ... naked or otherwise. The main reason? I am single and do not want to pay for "double occupancy". I would love to go on a nude barefoot cruise, but I think I would prefer the smaller sail boats or smaller yachts to "the big boat". 5000 people on a boat is just not my cup of tea. I would rather be with a few dozen or perhaps as much as 100 other nude folks.

  But in line with the discussion, I would agree with Andy, and if I ever did go on a non-nude cruise, I would not hesitate to go out on my "private" balcony nude, and damned be the person who violated my expectation of privacy by looking around the wall.

  If the balcony is sold as private and somebody sees you naked on it there are three possibilities:
  (a) You do not wish to be seen in which case you have a valid claim against the tour company for misrepresentation.
  (b) They object to seeing you in which case[strong]they[/strong]have a valid claim against the tour company for misrepresentation. (c) Nobody bothers about it.

  I think it is fairly common when the ships are in warm water area for people to be nude or less clothing when in a Veranda or Balcony on a regular cruise ship. I just put sleeping on the door and often walk on the inside and outside nude. I think the ones nest to me a couple did the same. It is hard to see, I was and wife went topless. As long as you do not do it when in port you are okay.

  Cruise starts tomorrow. Intend to try the balcony nude while at sea. Will sit on a towel near one edge so I can throw the long side over my lap in the event of someone looking around the divider unexpectedly.

  Sitting nude on my balcony as I type. Had some nude time out here this morning also, butthen had to put on a swimsuit because I wanted to go to the pool, and add t shirt and sandals to go to lunch since this ship doesn't have a poolside lunch.

We don't need the balcony on the nude cruise since we do take advantage of being able to go nude throughout the ship. Just got back from a week-long nude cruise (10 days if you count the travel days and the 2 days at Lake Como) yesterday and doing the laundry... all three sets of t-shirts, shorts, socks and underwear. As far as going naked on the balcony on a textile cruise... why do you think we get the balcony in the first place? We stay far enough back that you can't look down from cabins above and usually head out at night and maybe a morning or afternoon on a sea day if the sun is on our side of the ship. If a neighbor looks around the partition and then complains, we will complain that they are looking around the partition. We don't do it while in port.

However sometimes people look not beause thay are trying so hard to see you naked but because is literally imposible to avoid it. I meant, Once I was in Kho Samuy in Thailand and right outside our bungalow's balcony we could see an old perverted guys who was on purpose naked when my female friends wanted to smoke. because of the distance of the baconies and the location of both balconies there was no way to not look that gross escene. So in that case I can understand why people might complain.[/quote] But cruise ships have high, full width dividers that you would have to lean around to see someone on another balcony so it is a different situation.

We did a Boston - Bermuda cruise in September on the RCCLSerenadeof the Seas and they had the full size divider but there was a shorter divider the last 3 feet or so to the railing (we had an extended balcony). So if you stood at the railing right next to another cabin, you could see pretty far into the balcony.

  I have heard that some places consider bare butts a contamination risk since they are at essentially the same level as the food in a buffet.
