StevieLornaOriginal PosterApr 5, 2014I'l add to that question then.
Would you contact someone without reading their profile?
I ask, because most of the people contacting us, don't.ReactReply - HA
HawkApr 5, 2014I always read their profile prior to contacting them.If they have no profile I just move on.If they make first contact and I see they have no profile, I just move on.Hawk

KeithApr 5, 2014I too read the profiles even b4 accepting a Private Message request in chat.
I also attach or send a message to any member I have not spoken to on chat b4 sending a friends request.
I alsodon'taddfriends request , when 1. I have not had contact in chat or exchanged messages with the person previously2. the person has a blank or hidden profile.3. I receive an unsolicited friends request with no accompanying message. Messages like nice photo, be my friend don't cut it either.ReactReply - ST
StevieLornaOriginal PosterApr 7, 2014Thank you everyone for your replies.
It seem that genuine people will read a profile, while others who are just looking for numbers send out requests to anyone.
I have just had a request from someone who lives on the other side of the world, who is looking to meet up.???? Yeah, I'll take tomorrow off and meet you down the pub.
I've also had some strange encounters in the chat room, two separate women (well they said they were) wanted me to describe my sex life in great detail.ReactReply - TR
TravellingbizguyApr 7, 2014I do read profiles and I also like to see locations. Sometimes I will browse at pics, then look at a profile. There may be a common interest, having a tattoo and piercing, I notice pics with those first. I may send a message to the TN member and ask a question but that doesn't always mean a friend request.ReactReply - DE
DesertRatApr 7, 2014Yes, I always go to the profile before commenting on a Forums post or replying to a Friends request. I want to be sure about the person who I am communicating with. If things look questionable, I will usually call them out on it or flag their entry. There are too many good people here to waste one's time on the people who are less than honest.ReactReply - MI
MitchApr 7, 2014Always. I never accept friend requests without a profile read and if there is nothing to read, no friend acceptance.
Granted you never know if what someone put in a profile is true or not, but you can usually get an idea if they have posted some pics. Just as long as all the pics are not of different people, heh.

TimApr 9, 2014Yes, I always check out their profile. It only takes a few seconds to see if they look "genuine". I always like to see a picture and/or some information. Something that at least tells me that they put some effort into sharing a little of themselves.

StevieLornaOriginal PosterApr 10, 2014Strangely enough, after leaving a message on another topic, I received a friends request and a message asking me if I would like to trade pictures (we don't swap pics), I tried to reply to the message, but I was told I was blocked too.
Also, a girl (???) in Hawaii was so desperate to be our friend, she sent a message saying she had sent us a request. I asked, Why?
After a few short messages back and forth I invited her into the chat room for a video chat...........sadly, she had just dropped her laptop and her now her cam has stopped working...... So We still haven't accepted the friends request.ReactReply - MEMemberApr 11, 2014Yes I do.ReactReply

jill8Apr 12, 2014I always do. Not only to see if there are common interests, but also to see how involved they are in nudism and whether the chat is likely to be enjoyable. I am not always right but more often than not the profile can be quite telling, if nothing else, for what is between the lines.

Joelle74Apr 14, 2014This to me is almost a "DUH?" statement, but I 100% get that many send FR without bothering to see if info is in the info tab.
I also check before accepting a FR even if a message was attached. Much easier than having to go back later to delete. Although that can be done. (and I've barely been a member 24 hours and have learned this.)ReactReply - FL

orbarebearApr 26, 2014Like many others here, I only friend people that I've had some contact with and might actually be friends with if we were anywhere close to each other. Profiles are a way to help get to know someone, which is the whole point of social interaction.

MikeApr 26, 2014Most definitely if someone cannot take the time to fill in some background information, then they are definitely not serious and questionably genuine.
ReactReply - JO
JoeyApr 26, 2014I have no problem with responding to a message or chat, but if someone sends a friend request before ever contacting me otherwise of course I'm going to check their profile. Unfortunately too many people online think it's normal behavior to send a friend request to random people.

MikeApr 26, 2014On occasions when a FR comes from someone who does not have profile info, I usually send them a message suggesting they might like to update, and leave the request on hold for a time

StevieLornaOriginal PosterMay 5, 2014Thanks to all who have commented on this thread.
The reason I started it was because, when I'm in chat, I get PMed from various types.
As we are down as a couple, I always make sure that who ever PM's knows it's Stevie not Lorna chatting. This has the unusual effect of making some peoples computer blow up, because as soon as I tell them that they never say another word.
So I decided I would chat with my cam on.... this worked out, not better but differently, when my cam is on I get PMed (and friend requested) by men who's profile says they are Bisexual. I don't care what peoples sexuality are, but it's clear from my profile that I am in a relationship with a woman, and I haven't expressed any interest in blokes. One guy even asked me if I was home alone tonight, and when I said I wasn't he said that it was a shame. (wonder what he expected me to do if I was)ReactReply - GA
gabareMay 18, 2014i always read them when accepting or asking for friends on pvt chat that goes on for a few minutes i do than also.

DerrelMay 19, 2014I always read profiles. What I find interesting is the number of friends some have when there is nothing in their own profile.ReactReply
