Do you worry about being busted by the neighbours when nude in the backyard? I have this issue so I don't venture out for very long.

Yes. Being seen by the neighbors means jail time and a lifetime registering as a sex offender.

I have had them ask me to cover up when they have visitors, but other than that,I never get any complaints from them.

Why would any of us wish to upset our neighbours? We all have rights and sadly the law is on the side of the non nudist if he or she is offended.

I only have 2 neighbors.  One can't see my back yard at all.  Directly behind is open space.  The remaining neighbor can see in my back yard but only if they choose to.  They also have young kids.  So, out of respect for the neighbor's point of view (which I don't know because I have not asked), I have just not tested the issue.  I try not to allow myself to be visible which, yes, limits my freedom.  Additionally, my wife prefers that I not so I just deal.

Wish we had understanding neighbors like you have. Our's is the neighbor from hell. She'll call the cops at a drop of a hat, let alone one's pants. She calls city inspectors about anything I do on my property. I had a contractor install a solar pool heater and she reported me to the city because she could not find a copy of the building permit on-line. The contractor had done the necessary paperwork but the work was started before it was posted on-line but after he had received a permit. There was an improvement done in 1987 and she called the city because she could not find that building permit. The permit was issued but it was done long before things were computerized. I had to pay for the research to get a copy of the building permit so I could resolve her complaint to the city. When her husband lived here (he has long since left) I raised the common wall between our two properties. I had his approval to do it and I paid the entire cost. It gave us both more privacy and security. After being in place for over two years she decided that she didn't like the added wall so she hired some people to remove it. Then she even had the nerve to send us the bill.

We have a lot of nudist friends and would love to have pool parties at our home but we are leery of what she might do. I am very careful about being nude in my own back yard.

no wonder that lady's husband left. sounds like she has a miserable life and is intent on trying to make everyone else's the same. if she has all that time to spend online looking for permits it's obvious she has no other hobbies or activities. it sounds like what she is doing is bordering on harassment. i bet if you look up neighbor from hell there is a picture of her. it sounds like you are not letting her get to you which is good.

The next one can't wait until her 18th birthday so she can move out also. She works for a company in the construction business so she is aware of building permits. She probably does her computer searches at work so she is actually getting paid to harass me. She probably has friends at the city because I had a valid complaint about her and she got it squashed. It's not just us who are in her sights because I know she gives the neighbor behind her a hard time also.

I never did worry until yesterday. My property is pretty much private with hedges, gardens and trees. I like to work in my garage naked but when I do I put move my truck in the driveway so as anyone driving or walking the road can't see me. My neighbor next door and I have never had any lengthy conversations in the 9 years we have lived here. An occasional hi at best at the mailboxes. He has always been very nosey in what goes on and always walks the few extra feet up the road from the mailboxes to peer into our yard and garage to see what's going on. He is elderly and age has crippled him up to where I sometimes wonder if he will make it back to his house. Yesterday while working in the garage I had my back to the door while at the workbench. When I turned around to get a tool from my toolbox, there stood my neighbor. Surprising more so to him or me I don't know. He said nothing about me being naked and I slipped on my shorts. He committed to tell me that he had a new water softener in his house. I think his curiosity finally killed him and walked the length and uphill of my driveway to ease his mind. I now wonder whether if he eased his curiosity once and for all. Hate the thought I may now have to shut and lock my doors to prevent another intrusion.

I'd leave the door open(figuratively) for his friendship. Maybe even ask him about the encounter-strike up a convo about you being caught with your pants down-you may get a laugh that breaks the ice a bit; and who knows-he may tell you about the old days of going for a swim in a pond when it wasn't given a second thought to just take off all clothes for it. I've always gotten along well with elderly folks, I haven't found them to be quite as prudish as conventional wisdom makes them out to be. I think they become lonely and they have brightened my day in the past as much as I have theirs.

You have a point bruce. In fact I guess if he continues his gawking or visits again I would have to think he is cool with it. Now that he knows. Have to say it was a nice conversation with the old boy.

I built privacy screens that I put up if I am going to sunbathe out in my back yard.  It allows me the freedom to spend an hour or so to soak up the sun 'au natural' without fear of being seen by the neighbors.  If I'm not behind the screens, I'm very careful not to be seen by either neighbor.  Both have young kids, so I do so mostly out of respect for them.

No I don't worry about the neighbours, I am sure they can look after themselves with out my help except in disastrous situations.
Re being seen nude by them I try to be discrete so that I am not in their face, however I have been caught nude on a few occasions but I have had no confrontations with my neighbours over my nudity issues.
I know one neighbour now rings instead of just dropping in as he used too.
Its good not having close neighbours like in suburbia.
I also find country life and country people are in general more relaxed about most life issues.  With many people grew up on farms and small towns in the country have skinny dipped and/or experienced nudity at some stage in their life and find no issues with simple nudity..

At our current house, yes, our neighbors in back are just looking for any excuse to make trouble for us.  Also, there are now too many children in the area.

At the prior house, not bad neighbors to worry about, but again, children next door.

At the house before that, no kids in the neighborhood at all!  It was on a golf course and there were three fairways and two ponds between our house and the ones looking into our yard...about 200 yards away.  Did not realize it at the time how lucky we were to be so free to be nude around our pool.  (Neighbors on either side could not see into our pool area without going out of their way.)

No, I don't worry about it at all, but we're fortunate to live in a private forested property. I have only one neighbor who could see me from certain locations on the property, but he doesn't care and wouldn't complain. Only if someone traveled my driveway while I was out nude could they see me, and they would have to pass a "No Trespassing" sign to do so. Again, we feel very fortunate.
