  But Hillary Clinton will be no Thatcher. She's an incrementalist, simply not interested in sweeping programs and great changes, and has even said things like that out loud in response to Sanders' more radical proposals. She's got a shady side - not nearly as extreme and dangerous as her opponents make out, but enough to be a perennial distraction from the business at hand. Even conservative columnist George Will, certainly no fan of Barack Obama, credits him with one thing: There have been no scandals - none, not from him, not from his cabinet. With Clinton, we'll be back to business as usual.

  The people of the United States are tired with the status quo and are looking to break away from that antiquated two party system. Politicians, by whatever side they ascribe to are generally dishonest and loyal to their own self interest. I believe that is the force behind the Trump movement. Hillary, on the other hand, is the result of greed by the low information voter. These are the people who believe that the Government can give them anything they want. Neither of these people would have a snowball's chance in hell if the people were truly informed. We will get a stupid, corrupt government regardless of who wins. The problem that results will be directly attributable to the stupidity of the uninformed voters on both sides.

  I think that the Navy SEALs and ambassador Stevens might not agree with anything to do with Hillary other than prison when she allowed them to be murdered

  I will be ever so glad when you people finally have your elections and we lesser mortals will stop being bombarded with trivial junk from every angle and we can get back to more humdrum news.

  Hey, don't blame the US for being supremely good at generating media hype; it's our national gift. Australia just needs to do a better job of flooding the international press with its own traumas. We haven't had a really good, media-preoccupying story out of Australia since the Dingo Ate My Baby.

  Fast and Furious and the IRS issues weren't at cabinet level, and I question whether there is really a scandal around Benghazi; it's been quite a stretch to come up with any misdeeds there that get beyond the conspiracy-theory level of concreteness. If we concede that there's a scandal in there somewhere then yes, it's at cabinet level. But since it's Clinton, it supports my larger point, and George Will's  - like him or not, Obama has been remarkably clean, moreso than we can expect Clinton to be.

  Desertrat has hit the nail on the head. The two party system has closed out the voters and turned our republic into being ruled by money and what money can buy. For example; if a person is elected to a national office and wants to sit on any committee then that person must pay the party an estimated $100,000.00 to voice his/her opinion and presumably yours also. Anything higher than just being on a committee can cost up to $600,000.00 payable to the Party. Somehow to me this process smacks of bribery, and extortion, depending on who pays and who receives. Are there written statutes that make bribery and extortion illegal? Are the people who practice these things and condone these things good citizen representatives? While television has been called a vast wasteland, it seems appropriate to me to describe our governmental process in Washington, D.C. as a vast cesspool.
