  The profile will have been deleted. Most likely it was a spammer that has been removed by admin. If you still have the message in your tn folder, then you didn't have the search term quite right. Click on their profile link on that message or if it's not there, click the one on the notification e-mail, it will probably come back with " The member you're looking for does not exist.   I think you probably mean that you had a tn message notification e-mail, but when you went to your profile to read it, nothing was there.
  
  
  
  When a profile is deleted, everything written from that profile goes with it, inc messages, but the notification e-mail is already on it's way to you and so cannot be deleted. Now days, the username is on the notification, so you at least know who sent it, and can look for them. In the good old days, you were left wondering.
  
  
  
  If they are still on the site but the message is not there, it's likely that they cleared their sent folder, this also deletes the message in your box, before you had a chance to read it. It's the only e-mail I know of, that you can actually delete AFTER, you have sent it! .... :)
