Exhibishionist or Voyeur — General Discussion on True Nudists

I was asked a question yesterday by a friend who was curious about my lifestyle and what it means to me.
Are some people who claim to be Nudists really Exhibishionist or Voyeurs first and for most. For me it is a question that I could not answer fully as I like going for walks and relaxing in nature with just my partner. But I also equally enjoy socialising in the nude. So do I have a secret obsession with being nude or seeing other people people Nude in a social atmosphere. I do enjoy seeing the other gender Nude as all true blooded Australian man does, who doesn't.

If you read through this web site, I believe you can agree that there definitely some that are voyeuristic and sme that are most certainly exhibtionists. For me being a nudist has nothing to do with either. I am most comfortable nude. I find the company of other nudists to be more genuine than my more textiled friends. I find it somewhat funny, I have found myself in good conversations with nudists that previously I did not know. I have visited my neighborhood pool and rarely get into such conversations. I admit that I find the female figure to be most beautiful. Especially when it is not pushed or held by clothing to be the most eye catching. I do not believe that makes me voyeuristic.

The complaints about the inability to post or view pictures indicates to me that there are both. I believe that a true nudist is one who is most comfortable without clothing and really has no need to be with other people. Since we are social beings; though, we tend to want to be part of a like minded group and share time and experiences. I am reasonably certain that we do that while clothed as well.

The two words have been trivialized into pop-psychological terms of disapproval - and in that trivial sense, I suppose all social nudists are both. But the words carry their negative connotations because in their stricter sense they describe sexual pathologies involving unwilling victims. That's why they are crimes. An exhibitionist is someone who exposes themselves to provoke shock or fear, and is turned on by that reaction. A voyeur is a spy - viewing a person who's unaware of being viewed.
Socializing is a pleasure, and it involves seeing, and being seen. There's nothing perverse about that, whether done clothed or nude.

I agree. People watching is a good pastime - especially when naked amongst other nudes. I must admit that I tend towards exhibitionist. Yesterday I sat, knees up, in a short kilt as others (textiles) walked past. Some took a photo of what they could see.

I started a reply to you last night, but then I was so tired, I fell asleep before I had finished it. Since then, I see that others have basically said what I was going to say about exhibitionism and voyeurism, so I am only left with this one little bit to say.
When I first started out on my path to nudity, I started as an exhibitionist. I wanted others to see me in a sexual manner and I got a huge sexual turn on if they did. My initial "exposure" (pardon the intentional pun) was having sex with my girlfriend in places hoping that others would see us. To the best of my knowledge, that never happened. Later, it migrated to public masturbation in hopes that others would see me. Once again, I don't think that ever happened. Later, after having been married about 15 years, my wife's sexual desires died way down, and mine hadn't, and I had an accidental exposure to her mother, but the mother not only looked, so made it a point to go back and look several more times (but she always tried to hide the fact that she was looking or might have seen anything). This renewed my interest in exposing myself, and I slowly built up to some public masturbation again. After many years of no one seeing me (that I knew of) I started getting more daring and risky at home. I would stand in my open patio sliding door and masturbate in full view of 3 or 4 neighboring houses at various times when my wife was gone (she didn't understand my desires). I was seen by a couple of them, and made it a point of putting on multiple shows so they could watch, but they seemed to lose interest, so I ratcheted up my activity. I started going out my front door at 11:30 at night while nude, then that expanded to 5:30am. I even walked out into the middle of the road and took a couple selfies (with a flash) while nude to send to a friend. One morning, I wasn't careful enough, and a neighbor a few houses down saw me and called the cops. I got a ticket and paid about $1100 in fines, court costs, and lawyer fees to get the charges down to 6 months probation, from possible jail time. During my "probation time" I still spent a good bit of time nude at home, but was much more cautious than before. I got to the point that when I did venture back into my back yard, I realized that I didn't have an erection, and when I tried to masturbate, I really was more interested in just being nude, so I stopped and never got an erection that night. Now I am finding that I have many fewer erections while nude, and most of the ones I do get, I have to bring on myself by masturbating.
Don't get me wrong, I still want to expose myself to my wife's mother, but that's more for the fun of the shock factor. Her mother is a controlling, manipulative bitch (my wife's words), so I find it fun that I can manipulate her by letter her think she's seeing me nude without my knowledge. My wife is still not supportive or understanding of my desires to be nude, but the teasing of her mother is something that she almost supports, and she at least doesn't get upset at me for doing it.

It's rather ironic that most of the replies are saying neither.
Yet, there was a very similar question posted on the Forum asking the same question regarding the wives.
The post asks, "Who else loves showing off their wife"?
There were almost 100 replies, with about 100% of all of those replies stating that they all Loved to "Show Off" their wives to other people.
Nudists are the most hypocritical people that anyone could ever come across.
This forum is always good for a head shaking laugh.

Good point.
We were just generalizing about the majority of Nudists, and where they are at, on most Topics.
They all talk a good show, but....that is usually as far as it goes.
They say one thing, but do the exact opposite.
The "Showing off your Wife" topic is a pretty good example of that.

I would love for my wife to be nude in more places with me, but she would love for me to be nude in less places. She also likes to remind me that "you don't always get what you want", and if it concerns her being nude, it only happens if he wants it, regardless of what I want. That is only fair, since it is her body after all.

When I'm around the house, I prefer NOT to be seen. I don't have anyone to look at here either. ( except the wife ) Out at a resort, I don't go out of my way to "show off" any of my body. I don't care if you look. I do look at others in a passing mode. This is more for comparison than anything else. My comments are for myself only. And, I really don't care if you look at me or do something to attract my attention. Live and let live.
