What are the subtle... or not so subtle ways you use to find out who of your friends (or people you happen to meet) is a nudist??

Cheri Donna DawsonMay 20, 2011Mentioning in line at a supermarket (I've done this) during the summer - a bit "warm" in South Carolina...skinnydipping sure makes a lot of sense during days as this. I always get a positive answer. I do follow up and hand them a card stating "you've just done business with a nudist to/from a clothing optional activity."

NightOwlMay 20, 2011I certainly wish I was bave enough to be that open with people. I'm starting to drop hints in conversation that hopefully other nudists will pick up on and open the door for them to discuss it. So far no one has taken the bait. This summer, after having been out on the boat and anyone asking "What did you do this weekend?", I may go a step further and tell people that I was on the boat and took "full advantage" of the sun or other simialr hints.

AMay 21, 2011Simplest way is to be relatively open about your lifestyle without being a nuisance. Like if you have some social networking profiles, putting among hobbies, interests and/or activities somewhere between knitting and triathlon also "naturism". Or in casual conversation when topics related come up "don't fancy tan lines" or "not much wear clothes at home" or "only beach spots we stop over in for longer are the nude ones". Or mentioning like which clubs/organisations you are member, also the local INF/AANR affiliate. There are dozens of ways of doing it, but main issua is doing it discreetly and not pushing it on others - same time being open and extrovertive enough to give a good impression of being natural about it. Sudden whispering or change of body language just may give a creepy image.

kramtrohsOriginal PosterMay 21, 2011I have put an invitation in my facebook status asking if any one wanted to go to the nudist beach with me! That was obviously a not so subtle way of doing it, I didn't get a response.

CanoodlerMay 21, 2011Yes, I've tried mentioning it on a dating site and might try again. I used to have "kicking around nude" on my Facebook page but then I started working with kids who were looking up my profile. I'm not afraid of them but their parents. All they'll say is "Eeeewwww!" (:
I brought it up with new friends recently cuz I didn't want to be hiding it if it came up. None of them were interested but we all related some nude experiences. It didn't change my relationship to any of them but one did say she had a nudist friend. I still have to find out if we might get to meet! (:ReactReply - TH

DesertRatMay 21, 2011I've said this before on previous posts. Start talking about your bucket list and say you are adding "visiting a nude beach" or "visiting a nudist resort" and see what reaction you get.

catbirdMay 22, 2011Mention that you go to Sandy Hook, not mentioning Gunnison Beach. Although Sandy Hook also has several textile beaches, other people in New Jersey associate Sandy Hook with a nude beach.

BrianJun 16, 2011I usually start off by seeing if anyone would be okay if I go nude. From there, I could ease them into it.
I had one very lucky break last December, though. A friend of mine rented a hot tub for a week and I was quickly on board. She then asked if I was okay with nudism since there would be others who'd be naked there. I automatically said "____, I'm a nudist too! :D". I was so happy that one of my closest friends and her group of friends were nudists. :D

DesertRatJun 16, 2011I spotted a vehicle at a local store that had a parking permit from a well known nudist resort hanging from the rear view mirror. Had the owner of the vehicle showed up while I was there, I would have said somethig to them about it. By the way, the tag had only the name of the resort and not any drawings of nude people like some tags have.

NoneJun 16, 2011In the summer when it's hot we just mention that we love to skinny dip in our private pool and we love company. It is usually only said to people who we feel comfortable to be around. We have also found that a lot of people will skinny dip with us and then sit around nude and chat but will not go to a nudists beach or resort with us.

mr. billJun 21, 2011Putting letters like a bumper sticker on the car has had some reactions. Like NF and when asked what it means can either be Naked friends or Neverforget or both.ReactReply - CA

Mention of 'bucket list' reminds me of earlier this year when I visited my local club for the first time. It was to be a check mark on my bucket list. Been there done that. I anticipated being there no more than an hour, figured I'd get bored. 4 hours later I regrettfully left knowing I was late for an appointment. Been hooked ever since. Careful what you put on your bucket list, you may end up changing your life outlook, which I suppose is the whole point :-)ReactReply - PH
