  Being a newbie on this site I was really surprised by the number of friend requests from people who were "soliciting". Some even have been members for many months. I haven't received any solicitations from a certified user, which is what I look for now. I have also noticed that some who have been here many years are not certified. Is it just a silent protest from the folks who have been members for a long time?

  Glad to see that the solicitations get booted. I am not here for "hanky panky" and have been quite honest in my profile. My wife and I have been married 41 years. We have been through many trials and tribulations together.

Like teachers ect..... who would lose their jobs if outed and don't trust the site security to keep the pictures safe from hackers.

  Has anyone else noticed the striking resemblance TN user "Irena5272" has to a porn star named Julia Ann? This has to be another fake!
  
  Can anyone explain why these "young ladies" contacting us older men keep pushing for a "Google Hangout" contact? I don't understand. My usual answer is "I'm not on Google. I run Linux."

  Another one to watch for: Sandra377. Claims to be female, 31, and living in Kenya. Same scam. Starts asking for gift cards. Pretty good at applying pressure.

I run Linux."[/quote] It is because there are many lonely, old men on this site who would knowingly come to this site and be scammed in spite of being warned about the scams instead of going out into the real world and meeting real people. Some people are just absolutely determined to live a fantasy about some beautiful young woman falling in love with them and do not care or want to hear anything to the contrary.   The fake gay ones are not even attempting to disguise it. Always the same thing (insert first name here) Gay. Usually show up in the profile likes Sometimes I wonder if it would be better to have a paid link page to these sites so as not to flood our profile likes page with all these fakes. Otherwise, we keep flagging them and they will keep creating fake profiles. Never ending cycle. I just wonder if anyone here falls for their scam.

  Are these fakes proving their identitiy as per Mastercard's new rules? Of course not. The best thing to do is to create a fake page on the Mastercard website and report them directly to Mastercard.

  Safety Tip - Gone to Ghana? - Not likely!

  Be suspicious of anyone who claims they live in the USA, but are on assignment in Nigeria, Ghana or other African countries. Dishonest individuals will claim it is because they are an engineer, aid worker or business person and they suddenly need money because they have been robbed or are a victim of some disaster. Report anyone who asks you for money. Never send money to anyone who you meet online.

  Safety Tip - Beware of fake webcams
  Some scammers from Ghana, Nigeria, Russia or other countries will stream a fake webcam stream when you chat with them on webcam. They do this by using a pre-recorded video that appears as if they are the person on the other end of the webcam. In order to protect yourself from fake web cams ask the person to verify that they are not a recording by standing up, waving, holding up a hand or writing a message on a piece of paper and holding it for you to see. If the person is real they should be able to obey your requests in real time. If the webcam is fake they will be unable to do any of these things in real time.

  There is no substitute for acting with caution when communicating with someone online. Never include your last name, e-mail address, home address, phone number, place of work or any other identifying information in your profile or initial communications with another member. Stop communicating with anyone who pressures you for personal or financial information or attempts in any way to trick you into revealing it.

  Scammers usually attempt to get their victims to go to another site such as Google Hangouts and will make multiple excuses to lure their prey away from this site. Do NOT go to another site. Copy, paste, and immediately report all attempts to do so and get the scammer removed from this site immediately. Be warned and be safe!

  This site should start to immediately do what other legitimate sites do and take immediate action against the following situations:Please contact us immediately if you find any other profiles which: Are duplicates Contain photos which appear to be not real Contain offensive or dubious information You have reason to believe are not genuine Belong to someone who asked you to send them money and you are suspicious ofThe above is directly taken from a legitimate site that is serious about getting rid of fakes, scammers, frauds, phonies, and other assorted bums. Unfortunately this site has allowed the above time and time again hence why this site (in part) is now overrun with fakes and abusers with multiple profiles, fake photos, fake information that can not be true, and catfishers who scam for money. For those who might not know, a catfisher is an individual who uses the Internet, and in particular, online dating websites to lure people into a scam romance. ... Besides financial gain, catfishers are sometimes people who prey on others and gain pleasure from online communications and manipulation.

  Good lord I've had a lot of them lately. One problem that annoys me is that even after flagging and blocking them we still can't delete then from my messages or activity pages.
