Maybe so but I learned from just that kind of scenario that after a response has been posted it shows the original forum. Then it was simple for me to click delete and remove my response if I was in a forum not designated for my gender.ReactReply - ST
SteveOct 16, 2022If browsing on a phone sorted by 'Newest first' the category is not shown at all unless one selects the 'Back to topics' button at the bottom of the comments.
My suggestion is to make it clear in the post title that it's women-specific or take it to a suitable group.
What is hard to change is that the guys are keen to jump into any discussion or group whereas the women generally hold back a little. (I love when they participate - it's great to get wider perspectives.) Some that have spoken about it mention how much unsolicited male attention they receive for doing so. It only takes a few bad apples, but this place is a magnet for bad apples.

SteveOct 17, 2022It really is a software problem that it's so easy to reply into a forum you don't mean to - or for that matter, into a group you don't belong to - depending on how you encounter the post.
But for sure, men's presence can disrupt conversation. It doesn't even have to be a particularly obnoxious guy.... Back in early-second-wave-feminist days, a number of women in my collective had organized a consciousness-raising group. One time, since I was around an we were not a real rules-based bunch, they invited me to join them. But halfway through, one of them noted "We aren't really talking to one another. We're all addressing ourselves to Steve." And it was true; somehow I had become the center of the conversation, even as I was trying, as a new member of the group and something of an outsider, to hold back.
There does need to be a women's forum, into which men don't - and can't - post. (Unless they're pretending to be women, something I suppose the site can't prevent unless its a certified-only women's forum.) I belong to other sites with restricted forums - a farmstay site with separate forums for hosts and guests; a gay nudist site with age-segregated forums. It's common enough. TN really needs to do this.

JohnOct 19, 2022AFAIK, the only person who can delete a post is the poster, not the person who started the thread.
I agree that it's a symptom of a poorly designed web site. Ideally, the part of the forum that hosts the thread should be labeled right up front.
But if a woman wants to keep men from posting on a thread she's started, her best bet is to simply introduce the topic and tell people that the discussion will be moving to a group that she started and has control over regarding the membership of the group. Any discussions on the original thread can simply be disregarded, unless subsequent posters want to keep it alive for their own reasons.
