  It doesnt do anything good for nudism. First because streaking is not nudism and second he wasnt really nude.

  You answered your own question, it was a stunt, a punchline to a joke.

  No one looking at it thought it had anything to do with nudism.

  For you folks that never experienced streaking back in the day, it was truly a hoot! People you would never have thought would be out in public nude, often times in a large venue, dashing through some event, racing through the shopping center or hurriedly parading across the college campus; it was a blast and had viewers in stitches. I have mentioned in another post about the girl streaking down the front straight at Daytona & getting a standing ovation. Even Ray Stevens got into the act with the hit song *The Streak*. Perhaps if someone had streaked across the back of the stage at the Oscars while throwing an envelope at Cana, that would have gotten more replay than the fake naked announcement. Maybe one day well get back to a better fun mischief environment just maybe.

I remember the streakers from back then always being chased down and arrested by the police, presumably charged with some offence.

  The humor was in the act of trying to stay covered enough for the public. There is no way he'd have gotten away with it had he really been nude, and I think it is much the same as the famous nudist resort sitcom episodes where the principles end up there and when they finally dare to be bare find the rest of the cast fully clothed.

  The entertainment industry has no intention of portraying nudity in any way that is favorable to nudists. They use it to titillate their audiences or to amuse them with ridiculous stunts like Cenas. The fact that he was wearing a flesh colored garment to cover his so-called private parts indicates to me that they dont find nudity acceptable. It was pretend nudity, what a joke.

  As an aside, I dont understand why anyone watches these celebrities pat themselves on the back and give themselves trophies for pretending to be something theyre not. I havent watched for more than fifty years. I actually got rid of my TV more than fifteen years ago, and have never regretted it.

  It raises the question of whether the Academy needs a category called "the best non-costume" for the nude scene that is genuine (ie the actors themselves are fully nude, rather than stand ins and wearing 'nude' knickers or a Merkin).
  I think about Jenny Agutter in Walkabout and Helen Mirren in Age of Consent as Hall of Fame worthy nominees for their genuinely nude scenes as great examples.

I have never understood the fascination with celebrity faux nudity. There are a scarce few celebrities who actually live in a way of life vaguely resembling nudism.

They will increase advertising dollars and promote the artists and the media in which they work. Since entertainment is aimed at the public, the more exposure they get the better. Remember the Super Bowl wardrobe malfunction that exposed a nipple and it became one of the most rewound moments in TV history. The sketch of this show was not generated to promote nudity in the arts but generate money. The pans of the audience show that the members seated there were aware of the joke, and the humor came from trying to keep the cover on what broadcast standards indicate should be covered. I too can't remember watching any of these award shows during the past 50 years, but have a TV that is keeping me informed of history, science, and current events. It would be nice to be able to have a chance to see how other nudists live without it being censored, blocked, or fuzzed.

Most 'nude' scenes are no longer genuinely nude. Plenty female scenes are topless and then various wardrobe pieces are used to make the lower half look nude. Plus rear shots often use a stand in body model. The list is endless of how it's done. Even the Australian movie Sirens generated debate back in the day as to whether Elle was genuinely nude or wearing a Merkin!

This is the old idea that all media coverage is good coverage, no matter how poor the content or the production. In theory all the junk nudism on TV and in movies is good for genuine nudist as it helps to accept nudity and in some cases normalises it. I would add though that not enough positive coverage of nudism is actually the problem in helping advance the nudist cause!

  I would nominate this years Oscar winner Cilian Murphy. His nude scene in Oppenhiemer artistically portrayed the characters vulnerability getting grilled before a committee . He would also get a nomination for the opening scene in 28 Days Later. Laying nude in a hospital bed
  with the camera zooming in from above.

  Honestly the preoccupation with nakedness any glimpse any tiny bit of nakedness escapes me. But it fits the mindset that nudism = nakedness. This is causing us to lose what little social capital had especially in the US since we have abandoned any semblance of a common principled way of life that includes social nudity for individualistic, voyeuristic, and exhibitionistic instances of nakedness detached aspects of everyday life.

  Then we wonder why the general non nudist public thinks all nudists are weird or worse yet perverted.

  Reading this thread with a non nudist lens I would draw the same conclusion.

The outside world views nudism as wierd due to the overtly over representation and leadership of western European extracted middle age men who are unable to control their sexual desires, urges and ambitions. Almost impossible to visit a CO beach without seeing make activity in the back dunes or behind the bushes.

  I only saw a few photo's of the John Cena stunt, from the side he seemed to be wearing flesh coloured underwear. Seemed to me to just be attention seeking and to show off his buffed body. Further to the last comment, I'm in Australia too and sadly the middle aged men in the dunes is a problem at one of the beaches I used to visit. That behaviour brings bad attention not good to nudists, it makes the general public think that's what a CO beach is all about and it will cause some to close if the police or councils receive enough complaints. CO beaches were legalised to allow us to be nude there, to swim, walk, get sun without clothes not for people to have sex in the dunes.
