Hope this is the right place to post this.
Two weeks ago I had my yearly check-up. When the Dr. completed the exam he took a seat and as I was standing there wearing nothing but the provided gown the Dr. said that I could get dressed so I took off the gown leaving me with nothing on but my socks and when I did so I noticed that he left in a bit of a hurry. In my defense I understood him to mean right then and there. What do you think? Did anything like this happen to you? If so, how did you handle it you’re Dr. the next time you saw him/her? What would you have done?
Does anyone here have a Dr. that allows you to stay nude during your exam? If so, how did you break the subject with your Dr. and what was their reaction?

danglinDec 15, 2011
We europeans, do not understand this discusion. We live in teh Netherlands. When we go to a docter and if necessay we went fully nude. Ther is no gown at all not with general praticion nor in hospital. The doctor make his fysical examination and made his conclusion.
When we go to a dermatolgist. The nurse said: take all yuo clothes and wait for the docter is comming.
That is the way it is going here.
Whe see it in the american films on tv and do not uderstand why people are so shy.

CabotCheeseFeb 6, 2017My doctor doesn't have gowns. At my annual physical I get progressively more undressed as the examination occurs, until I'm naked while she examines my genitals and finally my prostate. The doc then hands me a tissue, turns away to enter data into her computer while I get cleaned up and dressed again. No fuss no muss.
At other times I am asked to use a small paper sheet if its necessary to get naked below the waist.
The weirdest experience I have ever had was at the dermatologist. I was asked to undress, put a gown on but keep my underwear on. I think it was for the benefit of the nurse who accompanied the doctor. When he examined my genitals by pulling my underwear down I noticed the nurse had averted her gaze. I can't understand why a dermatologists nurse would have any hang ups. Given the exam is to look at your skin it boggles my mind they use gowns at all.
It should be a question when filling out paperwork if you require a gown or not during examinations.

charlieFeb 6, 2017A few years ago I had gone to my female doctor to have my prostate checked and hernia check . The doctor just had me pull my pants to my ankles and had me lay on my side for the prostate check and when she finished had me stand for the hernia check. When I stood up I had pulled my pants up some to keep from tripping and had half of my penis covered so when she checked me she felt one side and had me cough and then before she did the other side she took her hand with no glove and grabbed my penis and moved it to the other side so she could finish then apologized for having cold hands and I just said no problem. This was a memorable visit.

SteveApr 16, 2021Once had to have an ultrasound on my scrotum. Was told to get undressed and lay down with a sheet of butcher's paper over my mid section while she left me alone for a minute. When she came back, despite an intimate examination, she said there was no need to remove my shirt also! In my defense, I did so to avoid getting lubricant on it.

noodengr2Apr 17, 2021
The thing that cracks me up most about the Doctor, is they assume you wear underwear. I've had a few exams where the nurse was take just your pants off, and when she came back and I was naked from the waist down got a little flustered.
I went for an outpatient procedure ( pacemaker replacement) and the prep nurse told me to strip down to my underwear and put on the flimsy gown. Then he left the room. I do not wear underwear so I just slipped off my pants and shirt and put the grown on. When he shaved my chest ( a loss of a dozen hairs) he just folded the gown down. But the doc said he might have to do a temp pacemaker while he swapped out the real one, the nurse had to prep me for that. So while in the OR with half dozen others in the room he lifted up my gown and sort of covered my penis while he shaved off my pubes on both sides. I told him I was not modest so don't worry about covering. He did not ask why i had no underwear on I did some checking afterwards and discovered that to do a temp pacemaker they insert a feed sort of like a heart cath up thru the large vein in the groin area. The doc did not do it which i was very glad. That puncture would have taken far longer to heal than the simple slit to slide in the new tic tac size box in my upper chestReactReply - M
MOct 14, 2021I worked in a medical facility for a number of years and the staff had to go through yearly training about cultural awareness. So while those paper gowns may seem silly and unnecessary to a nudist, others find it comforting or dignifying . Although I don't see how dignity and a paper garment relate but to each their own.
When I was a kid, almost every doctor visit usually meant I was butt naked at some point but not so much today. It is what society has become.
I usually ditch the paper gown myself. I'm not there for a social visit. I just want whatever they are doing to me over with as rapidly as possible and wasting time with changing in to something else for the sake of some false sense of dignity, just makes it take longer.ReactReply - GU
Guzzi27Oct 14, 2021I had to have a cystoscope a couple of years ago. I was shown to a cubicle to remove all my clothing below the waist and given a towel to wrap round me as I walked across to the examination area.
Once lying down the towel was removed and the urologist got in with things. The nurse spent the whole time chatting to me about my all over tan, I had been in Greece a couple of months before, where I had been to get one and didnt I feel odd being naked in front of others, what was it like the first time. I assume she had seen patients with an all over tan before but was very interested.
Needless to say when the urologist said he was done I didnt bother with wrapping the towel around me to walk back to my clothes.ReactReply
