DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine - Two men who jumped naked into Moosehead Lake last summer in return for a free sandwich at a Greenville restaurant have been found guilty of indecent exposure and fined $200.
Bernard Beckwith of Poland and Christian Simpson of Bethel were found guilty Monday in District Court in Dover-Foxcroft.
But Crystal Stilwell of Bath was found not guilty. Stilwell was naked and her breasts were exposed, but a prosecutor was unable to show she had exposed her genitals.
The three friends were arrested in August after jumping naked into the northern Maine lake at the Black Frog Restaurant, which offers a free prime rib sandwich to skinny-dipping customers.
None of the restaurant customers objected, but other people on the lake were offended and called police.

The incident brought to mind other bizarre protests over the years, and here is one of the most creative, courtesy of Time Magazine:
It was a small town in Saskatchewan, and the residents, tired of the bad condition of their roads, decided to do something about it earlier this year They took off their clothes, posing in the nude for a “protest calendar,” with one man smiling as he held a hubcap in front of his nether regions.
Not exactly the Chicago Seven, but, then, potholes are not exactly the Vietnam War.
The protest, as silly as it seemed, worked: Funding for highway repairs, according to the magazine, was approved in October.

Breastfeeding photo ban by Facebook sparks global protest by mothers
A global campaign has been launched by thousands of mothers against social networking site Facebook for banning photos of women breastfeeding.

Many have also received warnings that they may be barred from using the site.
Mothers around the world have rallied agaist the policy and some have even picketed the Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, California - under the banner of the Mothers International Lactation Campaign, to complain about the policy which they say stigmatises breastfeeding and demeans women.
Over 82,000 people have joined a Facebook petition group "Hey Facebook, Breast-feeding is not Obscene" with hundreds joining every hour.
More than 11,000 people around the world took part in the 'Mothers International Lactation Campaign' through an online "nurse-in" protest on Saturday by posting more breastfeeding pictures. Many of these photos have been subsequently removed.
Facebook says the website takes no action over most breastfeeding photos because they follow the site's terms of use, but photos that showed nipples were indecent and had to be removed.
Barry Schnitt, a Facebook spokesman, said: "We agree that breastfeeding is natural and beautiful and we're very glad to know that it is so important to some mothers to share this experience with others on Facebook."
But, he added, some photos were removed to ensure the site remains safe and secure for all users, including children.
"Photos containing a fully exposed breast - as defined by showing the nipple or areola - do violate those terms on obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit material and may be removed," he said in a statement. "The photos we act upon are almost exclusively brought to our attention by other users who complain."
But mothers say that breastfeeding is natural and healthy and should be not bracketed with pornography.
Katherine Brierly, from Brighton, said: "BF is natural, and allows the mum to have food on tap 24/7, wherever she is, that is safe and in the right quantities and temperature at all times.
"Prudes like you would wish every mother to complicate their lives and potentially endanger their children's health so that you don't have to see a bit of nipple."
Nicky Cartwright Pashley, from Sheffield, said: "When I go to the beach I see people's asses and breasts exposed in bits of string pretending to be swimwear. I would much rather see the beauty and love of a mother feeding her baby than be subjected to complete strangers' gratuitous flesh flashing."
Earlier this month, Nicola Wood, 27, was reprimanded for breastfeeding her baby during a carol service at St Peter's Cathedral, Exeter.
"My little boy Theo, who is six months old, was getting hungry, so I started to breastfeed him, but all I could hear was a woman a few pews back moaning and saying, 'oh my God, how disgusting'," she said.
"Then she came up to me at the end of the service and said, 'as long as this cathedral has been open I have never seen anyone as disgusting as you in church. Wis. court: Nude people still have privacy rights
MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A state appeals court ruled Tuesday that a person who is voluntarily nude in the presence of another still has privacy rights against being secretly videotaped, in a decision that bolsters Wisconsin's video voyeur law.
The ruling upholds the felony guilty plea of Mark Jahnke, who videotaped his girlfriend while she was naked and while they were having sex. He argued in his appeal that because the woman agreed to be naked around him, she had no reasonable expectation of privacy.
The state Department of Justice argued that shared intimacy does not give a person the right to film another unknowingly.
Jahnke's attorney, Michael Herbert of Madison, argued that the court had found in a previous case that a reasonable expectation of privacy existed when a nude person reasonably believed he or she was "secluded from the presence of others."
Prosecutors argued the video voyeur law would make no sense under that interpretation. The appeals court agreed, saying the definition in the previous case was not intended to cover all circumstances.
Judge Charles Dykman, the dissenter in the 2-1 decision, said the 2001 law does not specifically prohibit what Jahnke did.
Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen praised the ruling.
"Wisconsin's citizens enjoy a reasonable expectation of privacy not to be secretly videotaped while in the nude, and Wisconsin's criminal law has been correctly interpreted to protect that expectation," he said.
Herbert said he did not know whether the case would be appealed to the state Supreme Court.
In April 2007, Jahnke pleaded guilty to illegally making a nude recording. He was sentenced to three years' probation and six months in jail, which was put on hold pending his appeal.
He was a Waunakee High School chemistry teacher but negotiated a resignation after school officials voted to fire him.
Jahnke's ex-girlfriend said she became suspicious when she saw a flash of a red light from beneath a pile of clothes in her bedroom. She complained to Stevens Point police, who searched Jahnke's house and seized 33 audio tapes of the couple having sex and three DVDs. Lingerie Bowl To Be Held At Pasco Nudist Resort

Organizers of Lingerie Bowl VI have found a new field to play on: the Caliente nudist resort in central Pasco County.
The event, which features scantily clad women playing tackle football, is being organized by Los Angeles-based Horizon Production and the Lingerie Football League franchise.
It will be held Jan. 31 at the resort and will be between Miami Caliente and Tampa Breeze, billed as the "ultimate catfight competition." Afterhours parties will follow.
Originally, the bowl was scheduled to be in Tampa, on a vacant lot off North Rome Avenue, but on Thursday, the owner of the property backed out of a pledge to let them use his land amid growing opposition from Hyde Park area neighborhood groups.
Organizers also needed approval from city's Land Development and Zoning department and the Tampa Police Department to provide off-duty officers to supervise the event.
It wasn't immediately clear whether organizers would need permits from Pasco County.
"This season will be the first in Super Bowl's backyard transforming Caliente Resort into a 'Mardi Gras meets Super Bowl-like setting' for football fans," the company said.
Tickets for the event will range from $50 to $150.
On Feb. 1, Caliente will host "the country's biggest poolside Super Bowl viewing party" on multiple plasma screen TVs and a "behind the scenes" viewing of Lingerie Bowl VI.

Nudist club offers rooms to inauguration bare-devils

WASHINGTON (AFP) — A nudist club near Washington is offering to bail out people stuck for accommodation during next week's inauguration of president-elect Barack Obama, but you have to be a bit of a bare-devil to take up the offer.
You have to get naked.
Certainly, that's only to be expected at a nudist club, and, this being the dead of winter, you don't have to stay naked all the time.
And, furthermore, staff at the Pinetree Club near Annapolis, Maryland, will break you in gently to the idea of being in the buff.
"People who aren't members of the International Naturist Federation or the American Association for Nude Recreation have to go on a 30-minute tour of the facilities," Patrick Sokoloski, the manager of the Pinetree Club, set in a 90-acre wooded park 35 miles (56 kilometers) east of Washington, told AFP.
"They don't have to be nude for the tour," he said.
"But the tour ends at our indoor swimming pool, which is heated to 90 degrees, and they have to get nude at that point," he said.
During the tour, staff at the Pinetree Club, which prides itself on being the oldest nudist camp in the United States, brief visitors on nudist etiquette -- things like no cameras, no gawking, no sexual advances.
But even on that front, there isn't much to take in at this time of year because the camp doesn't have many visitors strolling the grounds in the buff.
"I mean, it's below freezing outside," said Sokoloski.
Unlike many hotels in Washington and surrounding towns, the Pinetree Club has not put up its rental rates for the inaugural period.
Cabins start at 73 dollars a night for non-nudist federation members, rising to 155 dollars nightly.
"This is the first time that we're pitching to the inaugural crowd," said Sokoloski, admitting that he, too, has been caught up in the excitement surrounding Obama's election.

LAND O'LAKES — It was supposed to be the Lingerie Bowl, not the naked bowl.
Now the whole thing has been canceled.
Citing conflicts with the hosting Caliente nudist resort over a "clothing mandate" that bowl organizers say was agreed upon, the Lingerie Football League is throwing in the towel. A league spokesman said holding and broadcasting the game in the nude or around nude people was not what the players or league had in mind.
"The league will not place our fans, players, staff nor partners in a less-than-comfortable environment that would ultimately jeopardize the mainstream perception and reputation of the brand that so many have worked diligently over these past five years to build," the league's Stephon McMillen said.
Angye Fox, a spokeswoman for Caliente Resorts, issued this statement: "Caliente is a luxury clothing-optional resort. We ran into conflicts with the Lingerie Football League wanting more areas of our resort restricted to clothing required than we could accommodate."
The league's announcement came after weeks of problems that hinted the Jan. 31 Lingerie Bowl VI, which was to air on pay-per-view during the Super Bowl halftime, was in trouble.
The game struggled to find a venue. Last week, the league announced it had found a new home at Caliente, a clothing-optional resort in Pasco County.
McMillen said the cancellation was disappointing, but "we feel ultimately it is in the best interest of the league not to place ourselves in what some would consider a potentially negative environment."
Note: I'm not sure if we should consider this a victory or a loss. Considering the raunchy way that Caliente was presenting itself here in the name of nudism perhaps it's a victory in a way. DavidJan 27, 2009I can understand how if they're broadcasting to an international audience (even on pay-per-view), that they wouldn't want nude spectators to be aired. I'm sure the players are cautioned very carefully about the need to remain dressed, even if it is just lingerie. They sure as hell could have worded it a lot better.

He said that until now the naturist walkers – sometimes referred to as "boot-only hikers" – had been free to wander naked because there was no law to prevent them from doing so. The new law is expected to come into force on 9 February in time for the start of the hiking season.
According to one naked hiker website, nacktwandern.de, the trend goes back to the start of the 20th century and has much to do with the new access it gives people to nature.
"Abandoning unpractical clothes enables a direct contact with the wind, sun and temperature", the site said. Some hikers even abandon footwear.
A 58-year-old German lawyer and naked hiker called Dietmar, who declined to give his last name, said he was sad to hear of the Swiss changes. "We simply try to tune into nature," he said. "It's the most harmless pursuit possible."
Looser said: "The point is many children visit our mountains in the summer."
Naked ramblers are drawn to Appenzell Innerrhoden – which is also famous for delaying giving women the vote until 1990 – by its beautiful landscape. Last year an internet campaign by a lobby group of hikers declared it to be a "naked rambler paradise", prompting a rush of visitors.
The naturist movement in the German-speaking world – known as free body culture (FKK) – has traditionally flourished on beaches rather than in the mountains. The campaign encourages visitors to the Outdoor Show to bring old hiking gear and equipment to be donated to Oxfam and for re-use in foreign aid projects. Stephenson and Lincoln, who are from Strood in Kent, say they plan to walk the entire distance in only hiking boots, socks and a rucksack. Stephenson said: “As naturists we are completely comfortable in our own skin and will only cover up in adverse weather conditions, or if we are asked to do so when passing through populated sections of the hike.” There you go Jen. Channel 4 nudes: Life drawing series will show full frontal nudity before 6pm

The station says it wants to revive interest in more traditional forms of art however the move will cause controversy as the programme will show full-frontal male and female nudity before the 9pm watershed.
Viewers of Life Class: Today’s Nude will be able to sketch models from home, while an expert will give pointers throughout the programme.The five-part Channel 4 series aims to reawaken an interest in more traditional forms of art
The five-part series, called Life Class: Today’s Nude, will air in July, before 6pm.
The idea for the show came from artist Alan Kane who said Channel 4 had no concerns at all 'because it's educational and nonsexualised nudity,' he said.Kane is a conceptual artist but was inspired by life drawing and said the art form has diminished so much that it has even come off the agenda at some art schools.
Tracey Emin, the artist shortlisted for the Turner prize for showing her unmade bed, attended life drawing classes for seven years and was also a nude model.
John Beyer, of viewing standards group Mediawatch-UK, claimed Channel 4 had 'an obsession with sex and nudity'.

Their pre-publicity meant that the Police were aware of them and the route they were taking so were not 'taken by surprise' as it were - it got classified as a 'Godiva' and harmless. The Naked Rambler is kinda 'on a mission' and, whilst I personally would defend his (or anyones) right to wander naked he did rather do 'nood with attitude' and put the authorities backs up on a number of previous occasions with some confrontational antics - not merely rambling. I find most British Bobbies to be perfectly reasonable if you are reasonable with them and, whilst occasionally being told to cover up to prevent a riot, have never even been threatened with arrest. In general the Brits tend to differentiate between harmeless eccentrics (who we quite often revere) and 'nut-jobs' - it's a kind of cultural thing.
