Not sure if this is a dynamic associated simply wit this site, but there are far less people active on here than what was in the past!

I've raised this issue about a year ago too. But surely we have all got used to being back at the work places etc and found our new groove where we still get to spend nude time both online and offline. I managed to find my way back into full time employment a year ago and was concerned that I would have my nude wings severely clipped, however have found time to be nude even doing 'work from home days' at the nearest nude facility which is well over an hour away.

The chatroom is the clearest evidence of how the numbers of participants have fallen. They are around half of what would be in there during the lockdown periods a few years ago...and are about 2/3 of the numbers of folks in there before the lockdowns.

So where are all the nudies?

Genuine nudist get pushed out by all the other agendas posted here. Too many fantasists make up what they think are nudist stories that are so obviously fake while others are only here to promote their own personal fetish.

The sexualisation of nudism is institutional on the site, by how the gallery section is promoted. This brings in needed revenue but does the opposite of promoting actual nudism, and attracting voyeurs and exhibitions and not the people who love nudism for its own sake.

How long your shorts are, erectile dysfunction to who likes to take a piss in their yard are just some of topics on this site that have me shaking my head as to why anyone thinks Truenudists has got anything to do with nudism anymore.

I don't mind the varied discussion topics that are loosely associated with nudism or at least about the concerns of people in that demographic. What bugs me is the suddenly new and blank profiles posting spam messages that seems to be increasing. More than once recently I logged in and was happy to see that several of my groups had new activity. Then when I look at the groups it was all the same person posting the same inappropriate message. They claim they are looking for a friend/partner/connection/whatever or simply saying visit my website or telegram. At times it has been so disgusting I didn't visit for days at a time.

Without any moderation of this junk it may continue to get worse.

An appearance of a spammy site and groups will make people feel unsure about even being here. At a minimum many legit people that are already here will become disinterested and as a result disengaged from the site.

He says that membership applications were suspended for the first year of the lock-down, and surged when they were finally accepted. Most of those new members have dropped away, leaving just a few new members and the core of long-time members. We considered it a return to normality, not a sudden thinning out of the community. But I think you're right about nudism not being as common as it was, say, twenty years ago.

You are probably correct about organized communal nudism. However I have seen a lot of commentary that home nudism is increasing.

One reason could be because people are kicked out of groups for not posting photos (nude or otherwise). I have never posted photos online and I never will. People say people like me are fake nudists, so that is one reason why sites are dieing out.

Home "nudism" is just being naked at home. Nothing more nothing less. Nudism has a social component to it that makes it nudism.
You are probably correct about organized communal nudism. However I have seen a lot of commentary that home nudism is increasing.
Could not have said it better. Except for a scant few the site is now the domain of thirsty old men and online sex workers. Just look at the rash of posts in groups from those workers asking for people to contact them for a good time. I was trying to present a different side by sharing genuine nudist and naturist experience from my workouts to photos of my experiences but most seem to only be interested in the salacious stuff that has nothing to do with naturism. So I will be deleting most my photos and videos soon. Because I give up.
Genuine nudist get pushed out by all the other agendas posted here. While everything mentioned above might have something to do with it, I noticed over the years that in the summer months, participation drops notably here. Usually picks up again around Oct / Nov.

I will grant that the "thirsty old men" contingent is driving people away. But near as I can tell, they are not actually replacing them in the active membership. Maybe it's just my own aging, but I don't think my online look has changed that much since I joined - and I get WAY less of the salacious stuff directed my way than I used to. (Thirsty old men have a variety of tastes.) For a while, during the pandemic, I was getting huge numbers of fake young-gay-man profiles selling porn sites; that has stopped.

If there is another growing nudist site on the planet that has significant shares of male and female social nudists I'm unaware of it. I certainly check out every alternative site I'm made aware of, from a European one so strict they check the metadata on any uploaded photos to an American one that tries valiantly to allow explicit photos without letting that become the default, and they're all overwhelmingly male. There may just be a cultural trend that's pushing this sort of site below critical mass.

If a person feels liberated by the lack of clothing and prefers that state to a clothed one, for whatever reason, I'd call that person a nudist, even if there are no other nudists around. Am I a nudist right now, sitting here alone and typing on my computer? By your definition, I would not. I I would have to be around other nudists to become one. It's like being a "vegetarian." A vegetarian doesn't have to be eating vegetables to be one. He or she just has to have a belief in not eating meat, and practicing that belief where appropriate, whether in the company of others or not. I do make a distinction between "nudist" and "social nudist," however, because I find it useful. I enjoy being in the company of other nudists, just a a Baptist might like to go to a Baptist church to be with other Baptists. But that Baptist is still a Baptist when not attending services. And I'm still a nudist without being in the presence of other nudists. I'm reminded of a distinction that somebody made a few years back about "old school" nudism, which involved joining clubs and founding resorts as a means of participation, and "new school" nudism, where people were comfortable about being without clothes at pool parties and skinny-dipping holes and nude beaches in the company of friends, but felt no need for connecting with a larger nudist community. There was a conjecture that "new school" nudism was on the rise, but there was no way of tracking or documenting it. And SteveinKona wrote:
If there is another growing nudist site on the planet that has significant shares of male and female social nudists I'm unaware of it. They have ways to screen out the curious but uncommitted. I agree that they are mainly male. (It's curious that AANR's president is female, and the Clubhouse is administrated by a husband and wife team.) I, too, would like to be on a site where the ratio of male to female is closer to even. I'm not female, but I have listened to women's viewpoints on why more women aren't nudists. It's a complicated issue, made more complicated by society's attitudes toward women as vulnerable targets of male sexual attention and attraction. These attitudes aren't going to go away, and we men have to work harder to make not only nudist places, but all places, the kind of environment where women feel safe in doing what they please. Maybe then, we'll see more female participation.

Considering how women are treated here, I'm surprised that we have any at all on the site. They gave women a section of their own, but it's so over run by men that none of them could really feel comfortable there. From what I've noticed, every woman that joins the site appears to be hit with numerous likes and friend requests from desperate old men(perverts). Unfortunately for them, or fortunately for the rest of us, a large percentage of those "new" female membefs are fakes(scammers).

This site, like most others, is being overwhelmed by those scammers and perverts. I am doubtful that there are any sites that are actually a safe place for genuine nudists. And by "genuine nudist", I mean both "home nudists" and those of us that participate in public nude activities. Some people don't have the resources or access to places where public nudity is accepted. I do wish that public sentiment would allow us more opportunities, but I don't see it happening in the near future.
Considering how women are treated here, I'm surprised that we have any at all on the site.......
This site reminds me of what occurs daily in real life. Just had a conversation yesterday with some women who claim that they can not find a decent guy to form a relationship. It came out in the discussion that the women are all attracted to loser men and have no real interest in good guys who do not cheat because these men are 'boring'. There are only a handful of real women here. The rest are men posing as women. Many of the real women are not here to engage in chat or to be nice to good men. It is nothing short of a myth that this site promotes the solo idea that men are nasty to women. Not all men are creeps here and not all women are angels. it is way past time that statements such as what you posted above be changed to "Considering how good men are treated here, I am surprised that any good guys remain on this site". The fact is that most good guys have left this site and that this trend continues. Soon there will be nothing left but a few creepy guys, nasty women, fakes, scammers, and other assorted misfits.

I agree that not all men are creeps, but there are enough creeps to make it uncomfortable for women to feel secure. And that goes both for this site and for the world at large. And not all women are angels. I'm sure that if you're getting lots of messages and invitations, it's rare that there's an actual woman out there. To me, they're just weeds in the garden. You weed them out and then enjoy what's left.

I am sorry I dont understand you comparison a vegetarian is still a vegetarian if they dont eat vegetables. Aah doesnt compute for me but I am not surprised because I dont understand much of your perspective. A genuine nudist doesnt have to go to a AANR club or resort to have the social component even if the never left their home they could invite other and have nudist gatherings at home. I maintain that what you call home nudism is just getting naked at home. It makes perfectly good sense that an individual might feel comfortable clothes free at home. That is how I started but once I engaged socially I realized how important that was to move from just being naked solo to being a a nudist/naturist. I dont think we will agree on this point based on the comparison you made.
Am I a nudist right now, sitting here alone and typing on my computer? By your definition, I would not. In our 30s we were very casual with clothes around the house, especially in the warmer months but we never considered ourselves nudists. Later choosing to be nude on a clothes optional beach, we still never considered ourselves nudists. It wasnt until we actively sought out nudist resorts that we finally started identifying as nudists. I agree with HCF, many people can be nude at home. That doesnt mean they are nudists. In the same way, me eating an apple does not make me a vegan.

It's a matter of personal commitment to the idea that when it doesn't make sense to wear clothes, it makes sense not to wear clothes. And to the idea that being nude and exposed to the sun and the breeze and the water unfettered by clothes that block those sensations is a Good Thing. But I'll grant that my take on it probably isn't yours. True, eating an apple doesn't make you a vegan, in the same way that being nude in the shower doesn't make you a nudist. But if you're given a choice between an apple and a hamburger and choose the apple because you don't like the idea of eating meat, then you might consider yourself a vegan. In the same way, if I'm given a choice of being nude or clothed when I'm in my backyard and I prefer being nude because I feel more connected to the environment, then I consider myself a nudist.

Again, Woodsman, you are misconstruing my point.

My reply was in response to a statement that home nudism was on the increase. Even though this typed was with no actual evidence other than wishful thinking.

Simply being nude at home doesnt make you a nudist.

If youve been a nudist for years and are nude at home thats normal, but its not an increase in home nudism.

I remain confused by the connections you are trying to hear. You are trying to slice these examples so thin to try to validate you opinion but I dont think they stand up as more than an individual opinion or perspective. It is clear to me a that a person does not like the idea of eating meat andnotbe a vegan. Talk to any vegan and you will learn it also extends to a philosophy of not using animal based products or by products like wearing a leather belt or using honey as a sweetener. What you are doing IMO is just what you do with nudism. You take one aspect (maybe the most visible) of a way of life and magnify it above all other aspects then define the presence of that singular part as the whole. I realize that works to justify your point but IMO it doesnt hold up to scrutiny. Just because you dont agree with the broader view of nudism doesnt make it invalid it just makes it another view that is contrary to your own. I try to get on when I can, but my job in media can get me busy. Ive also been dealing with some injuries lately thats slowed me down on a lot things. But getting back into my usual groove. One of my injuries involved my hand, so obviously that slowed me down on everything, with the other being my leg, but Im almost 100% healed, so Im getting back in my groove again, which is nice.

But I admit that for many nudists, social interaction is a vital component of proper nudism, a part of being who they are. But they would be mistaken to think that their game is the only one in town. The person who goes nude at home or likes to go on nude hikes by themselves, but who doesn't seek out interaction with other nudists, is not a nudist by many people's definition. I recognize that. But if the nudist who like to go on long hikes alone comes afoul of the law, that person might turn to AANR or TNS or BNS for legal assistance. Would those organizations turn that person down because he or she wasn't what I'd call a "social nudist"? It would be sad if they did.
