Private Profiles

More and more people seem to have Private Profiles these days so that only Friends can see what's inside.  I can see the point in restricting access to photos so that some are only available to Friends, but why restrict the rest?
Do we really want lots of Friends requests from people who have no idea who we are and what our interests are?  This kind of secrecy, only taking off our clothes behind locked doors, doesn't sit well with the idea of a bunch of people who want to be free and natural.
Maybe some people are very shy and don't mix well with others?  Believe it or not, that describes me very well,  but it doesn't stop me hanging out naked and it doesn't stop me trying to make friends with others.  Let's lose those hangups.  You're among friends here.

I take it to mean, "I already have all the friends I need, thank you very much." And then I move on. (Although I admit it's tempting to send a message just to see what the response might be.)

What I find funnier is when someone whose profile is set to private sends ME a Friend Request and won't let me find out more about him or her through the profile. That member may be a wonderful person, but I have absolutely no information by which to make a decision, other than to say, "No, thank you."
That's exactly the problem: the 'one-way mirror' syndrome - they can see us but we can't see them.  What's the point?

Maybe its possible for people (I am sure not all of them) but some might not want internet friends, and have their profiles PRIVATE for their real life friends to be able to see their profiles. Maybe they are afraid of becoming part of the witch hunt on TN and don't want the general public to be able to see their profiles, if their profiles are PRIVATE, they can't be flagged or taunted for being fakes, It actually makes perfect sense why someone would have a private profile on here, In fact mine might be going that direction very soon.  That way I can friend the people I want, don't have to worry that my pictures or anything else about my profile will offend anyone, and I can live at peace with my True Friends.  This is a very wonderful site for nudists to meet, learn, and converse, but lately it has be come unbearably childish, and immature.... how bout this for my closing remark on Private Profiles... The option is there, people are going to use it... get over it, and move on. if you don't want private people to be your friends, that is your option, don't accept them as your friends.... its EASY - Click DENY  ok... I'm done...

I'll try to fill in some more on my profile as I can think of stuff to post about us, but I'm not posting pictures. If we can't be friends without seeing each other then I feel you're not a true nudist since isn't that the point?Acceptance without regards to appearence?

But does the person like speculative fiction? Comic books? Ice hockey? Star Trek? The Rolling Stones? Cats? When a profile is set to private, or when the interests section isn't filled out, I have nothing on which to decide whether we have common interests. I suppose I COULD accept Friend Requests indiscriminately, but what would be the point?
i hate those people too and they need to be smacked and realize this is a nudist site.....if you block others from seeing you, WTF? you arent a real nudist
I personally take offense at your statement......We, that is my husband and I areREALnudist's what ever that may be....We have actually resided in a Naturist resort as permanent residents, we no longer live there sadly, however we still lead an active naturist lifestyle. having said that my profile is set to private, for my own personal reasons.  Jackie is one of the most prolific and sensible posters on this site always ready with comments or advice but definitely very active. Her reasons for privacy are her own and I would not question them nor the fact that she and her husband are Real and TRUE nudists.

There are too many people out there these days wanting to use your info against you if they can for what ever reasons.

My profile is visible, my pictures are not, nor will they ever be on the internet.
And just how would you know my pictures are of me anyway, anyone can post any picture, unless we meet face to face it really is a trust issue.
