Quandry - How to decide whom you add as friends

Ok, like a lot of people, while getting established on here, I opened the barn door wide and anyone who sent me a friend request automatically was accepted.  Now I have a bunch of people on my friends list and the majority of them I have no clue about.  Some of them don't even have a profile and at least a couple of them have such a generic profile picture that I'm not even sure that they are really a person.
So, I am now in a quandry as to what to do about this.  I have become a little more sceptical than I first was.  Also, I now have a wider seperation of field as those of you who have commented on the picture of TBares and us.  Now I need more categories of friends.  Something like: A) Nudist friends that you are likely to be at a gathering with or run across, B) Nudist friends that will be people whom you feel certain about on the board and C) acquaintences.
I hate to just wipe the board clean and start from scratch, though that really may be the only way to seperate the questionable from the certain.  Moreso, how do I know that I would not like this person and that given time we might become real friends and not just a picture in each other's list?
Sooo, I'd like to hear from some others on their opinions about how they select whom they allow to be freinds and whom they do not.  I think this also might help others out there, like me, who are sitting on the fence.  Someone help me get the fence post outta my butt?
Thanks
Jerry

I have said this before, and I know I need to clean house, but I have been denying those that do not have a profile, but guess some can not read or just overlook it in our profile.  The profile should be first and formost, tells me alot about the person who is asking to be your friend.  I just denied one yesterday as their profile was purely SEX related and no conforming to Nudist standards, and one today as all the guy had pictures of as friends were women and one cpl.
I was going to write up a note to send to those that were denied and why, just not got around to it.  Too easy to get on here, all you got to do is take your clothes off and "Hey I'm a Nudist" don't think so, not the way it works, but I would like to know something about the person or persons we are adding, think we talked about this profile thing on another topic somewhere, but I do think and profile will get you in and no profile will get you no where.

i agree that a profile needs to be filled out before one should request your friendship.  we accept requests from anyone with a filled out profile as a friend only because this is the internet.  we have had to delete some people as friends for inappropriate comments or what not.  we send out friend requests only to those with filled out profiles and without any pics that seem exhibitionists.  although some people live far away from us, never know when we might get a chance to visit thier area and even some that live in other countries where we may never visit at all,  we are both very friendly people who get along with most people we meet.  it doesn't matter if a person is truenudist certified, cause all that takes is a pen, a piece of paper and a camera.   the wife works overnite, goes to college during the day and besides her mom lives with us.  makes it hard to take a picture of the both of us to get certified.  we have been to 5 different clothing-optional resorts this year, are members of The Naturist Society and Bay Area Naturists, and have gotten involved in the San Onofre beach battle with California parks both by writting the parks director and donated money to the Friends of San Onofre.  i think that certifies us as true nudists more than a picture.

Don't feel bad Phil, I just put together this really cool an witty email to Earl and when I went to "submit" it, I got an error and all my witi-ness vanished. *sigh*
Valley, I agree, but still it is difficult, you want to be friendly, but then you go, ok, there's nothing there to be friendly to...  I have begun the re-evaluation process.  I am sending each one of the questions an email telling them that I am honored to be their friend, but that I'd like to know what it is that they are looking to get out of the friendship.  I guess I'll see how it goes.
    Thanks

Hello: Will try this again, puting HTML in an HTML page don't work: We are sorry we have denied you’re “Friends Request", it may have been for one or more of the following reasons below: 1. You had no profile information filled out, that is first and foremost. 2, You had very little profile information filled out to give us an idea of who you really are. 3. Your profile was Sexually Explicit, and not someone we want to meet. 4. Your profile was filled out but your pictures are not what we deem suitable to a Naturist environment. 5. All of the above.

I'm not sure I can be bothered to tell them why.
I find the problem with having a strict criteria is, that when I do find someone I like the look of, I can't ask them to be a friend because of their profile or lack of it  :(
Oh, and the copying on to notepad thing only works, IF you remember to do it!  hehe  :)

Like you JR, I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and will generally accept any friendship request that comes my way.  However, I've found that some people do judge you on the friends you keep and have since limited that practice. lol...Though not too much.  I don't have any set criteria, like a filled out profile.  I know from personal experience, filling the damn things out is a pain in the ass, so I don't want to limit a friend just because they are as lazy as I am.  Same thing with pictures, I generally don't accept friends without pics, but what if they don't have a cam?  Then there are the certified users, that does go a long way with me.  I know someone mentioned that it's just a pen and paper, but it's so much more to me.  I don't care if they are a real nudist or not, but I do care if they are a real person or not and being certified does prove you are a real person to me.  That said, I do know there are many real people who are not certified and I don't want to deny them either.  lol...Confused yet?  Basically it all comes down to your gut instinct and that's what I follow.

Obviously my gut instinct isn't always correct, otherwise I'd be a millionaire with a beautiful faithful trophy wife. lol...So, what do I do when I'm wrong.  Well, every now and again (and I'm due for this now) I send an email to all the people on my friends list that I do not or have not spoken with either via email or chat.  Basically, I tell them that I'm glad they are on my friends list and would like to get to know them better.  I don't threaten that I'm going to delete them, because I'm not big on threats. lol...I then give them a week, if I get no response, I drop them and don't look back.  The way I see it, I've given them the chance and don't feel bad about it.  That too is kind of a pain in the ass and I was thinking of maybe doing a bulletin saying I'm cleaning up my friends list and those of you who I haven't spoken too will be deleted if I don't get a response in a week.  lol...but that just seems kind of mean to me, so I'm not sure if I'm going to do that.

Anyways, hope that helps in some small way. :)

So far, most of the people on my Freinds list here are ones I know or at least recognised from another nudist forum I'm on, plus some people I met in Chat here that looked interesting.

I don't mean to be a wet towel, but it seems to me, more and more of the people asking to be friends:
    A) don't have a completed profile or send me a message, which is what it says to do on my profile
    B) have far too many crotch shots as either their profile pic or in their pics
    C) just don't seem very interested in nudism but seem very interested in couples and females.

I think I am taking the stance that "I need a message, or some interaction on a forum or something to determine why I should be freinds with these people."  I also still have a whole 'nother level of things going on.  I have already met with one couple on here, my father is on here, and I am meeting with another couple that is on here - this weekend.  I have high hopes to meet with others on here.  I would love to have some way to signify that we are not just friends in a list on a web site, but that we have actually met and hung out together.  It's one thing to see a profile, its a totally different thing to meet someone in the flesh.

    Thanks
    Jerry

A lot of the people on my friends list are people I only talk to in the chat room.  I am not big on sitting down and writing an email, would rather have a casual conversation about what ever comes to mind at the moment.  Having someone on your friends list makes it easier to see that they are online and in the chat room.
