Random Gallery pictures

I'm sure we've all done it, seeing a thumbnail in the 'random gallery pictures' and wanted to see the image in a larger format. On several occasions I've done this but can never seem to find the image in the gallery I assume it will be in.
Is there a way of finding the image more easily? If you click on it you just get sent to the gallery but not to the specific image. I've also noticed that some of the galleries seem to be muddled (single person images in group shoots for example).
What do you guys think?
